Your doubt is right. I often purchase soft wares on net and use. Before you do note some points:
Try to purchase from the site which usually show their contact address, e-mail, phone or fax. at least they must have e-mail.
Then if you are purchasing through a payment site which accept order on behalf of their vendors then before placing order please make it confirm in case of problem they will help you.

If you purchase and later you find the soft is not working properly then they must provide you new one or return your money.

In my experience before placing an order write e-mail ask questions and when you are satisfy then pay and download. You must keep all e-mails which you can use as proof in case of fraud.

The safest way to shop by credit card is American Express, which gives 100% guarantee and now a days Paypal is also doing great job.

One point advise: When you make payment send that page by e-mail to yourself for record and after your get invoice then you could delete.

The easy way is to set up a limited user account from the control panel. Limited accounts can't install software, so anything you download gets saved to the desktop.
You drag the file to the My Docs folder and then log on as the administrator, copy the file to the admin account and install it.
I usually back it up first in case of problems. It will say in the license agreement whether its ok to back it up - it usually is - along with how many backup copies you can make, and how many machines you can install on (usually one!)

Yes it is possible and completely legal too. When you download the program, save it where you will remember and then burn it to a CD or DVD. Be sure to also print out the receipt and the serial key for future reference.

When you downloaded the program, it usually comes as a single file that you then click to actually install the program onto your computer. To save the program on to a disk, simple copy that install file to the disk. Then you can run that install from the disk on any other computers you want to put it on. (Note: installing the program on multiple PCs may be a violation of your license agreement and thus be illegal).

Using your disc burner software make a 'Data Disc' and put on it the program install file, usually a '.exe' file.

I think it is legal as long as you don't distrbute it and if your planning on using it on another computer you can see if it's legal. Either way there are usually NO consequences.

Good Luck, email me if you need extra help!
