Yes your mom CAN do that...yes she was RIGHT for doing it...And when one acts like a baby they should be treated like a baby...if you don't like feeling like a baby, don't act like a baby. And if you are over 18 and don't like it...pack your bags and move out.

If your moms purpose was to give you a taste of your own medicine and to prevent this sort of behavior in the future AND NOT to ridicule you, then 5 - 10 minutes in the time out chair probably did not hurt you. Look at it this way, you know how far you can go with your mom now, so you may have learned something...
If my daughter had dropped the "b" word on her mother, a time out chair would have been the least of her concerns. I don't believe in spanking as there are many more effective ways to prove a point with a teen.

If you're 18 or older, I would report it. Because once you're a certain age your mother can no longer tell you to do those things, and if she lays a hand on you it's now abuse. Especially if she forcefully placed you in a corner. If you told someone about it that you knew in person your mother could actually face social services. As /some/ of the "old" ways work, it's normally the wrong way. Humiliation is the WRONG thing to do. It plays with a lot of emotions and can cause damage if you're not the type of person who can handle it. A lot of the "old" approaches to do things are illegal now. Such as spanking in public, using a belt or other items, using whiskey on an infants gums, etc.

well, your sisters are under-age children and your mom had total right to punish them this way. If you're over 16, then you're more like a young adult, and a real 'man' should not have laughed at his sisters! That was disrespctful not only for your little sisters, but for your mom desicion as well... Next time, behave better or you might have another punishment from her.

I've done it to my daughter, granted, she is younger than you obviously are but it worked. I know it was humiliating for you but I bet you will think twice again before making fun of your sisters or someone else. When you act childish you get treated like a child. When you act like an adult you get treated like an adult.

i don't know how old you are but i have to say, it serves you right. never assume you are better than your sisters or that you can't get the same punishment. and never call your mom a b*tch. if thats the b word youi talking about.

Welll let's just say it's not as harsh as the 'old school' way, but yea, I suppose it's suitable.

I would just spank them for asking like toddlers.
