Sometimes when Im lying down and I close my eyes for 5 to 10 mins and I open them again about an hour or so has passed when I look at the clock, I dont know if i actually fell asleep but it doesnt feel like I have.
Has this ever happened to you before?

Hi,
I am going to give you a slightly different answer. If this is happening to you regularly....where you are loosing periods of time without realising it...other than just when you lie down and close your eyes, then this could be a sign of something going wrong mentally or neurologically..not to frighten you as it could be nothing to worry about. The chances are that you do actually fall asleep or daydream and that's why time passes quicker than you think. But if you don't feel this explains it you should maybe ask your gp..even just ring and ask for a phone appointment if it's something you feel is annoying you in anyway.
Other than that, be happy..I can't make time go quick enough.
x

Yes I have done this many times before.
I usually do this when I am having a bout with bad insomnia. I will lay there for hours not being able to sleep. Then I will just wake up and look at the clock and it would be like an hour later. I will ask myself "did I really sleep?" over and over. But yea I think i am falling asleep while doing this. But I don't think it is a good healthy deep sleep.

All the time.

My Mum used to close her eyes for forty winks as she called it. And when she awoke from her winks an hour later she always remarked that the clock must be wrong as she had only closed her eyes for ten minutes.

And by the way you can feel more refreshed from just having ten minutes during the day than a fully blown eight hours. Now that is strange.

Well, I call it sleep but if you find you are doing it at work or school and you just black out and then open your eyes or it seems like you are opening your eyes again it might be a seizer of some sort....my guess is it is sleep though cause people who get those kind of seizers don't even know they were gone it seems like they never blanked out.

Yeh, usually when I've just turned off my alarm in the morning and I have a class to go to. Then I open my eyes again and have to rush to class in about 5 minutes.

this happens to me quite alot. its is only because you have drifted off but because time seems to go quicker when you are asleep you feel like you have only closed your eyes for a short while when in fact it has been for a lot longer

Yes! Almost always when I want to watch something on the TV.
Takes me a minute or two to figure out why the plot makes no sense!
