I'm in the Army and am getting deployed to the Sandbox in October. I'm totally stoked about it. It's why I joined.

Do you really think it's bad over there?
Would you go?

@Zack: Yeah, I've been in 3yrs and just missed alot of my friends leaving when I came back from training. (By like a month) They were over there a year and pretty much everyone told me if 1 Iraqi got killed, expect the news to say 5 Iraqis killed, 10 wounded and an American Causality. lol

Been there more than once. I was in the thick of things and yes I would go back. I lost battle buddies over there and I knew if they were able to come back to life and go back they would. I am proud of you. Just keep your training in your head and you will be fine it is not as bad as the libs and CNN want us to think it is. Good lUck battle and have fun. Oh stay hydrated! Trust e on this one you can't drink too much water in the sand box and on top of it be sure to start drinking water before you leave for over there so your all ready hydrated. Oh and use your sun screen! If you have any other questions or want pics etc just email me...........Shadow Stalker

Its nowhere near as bad as the news would have you believe but.... Its not safe either rememmber your training listen to your squad leader/ Team leader and stay alert. I got hit by 3 daisy chained IED's on Route dover. Traumatic brain injury massive internal injurys an died twice..But you Know what? If uncle sam would let me I'd be on the next thing smoking. My granpa had a saying. "It's not the size of the dog in the fight it's the size of the fight in the dog." Thank you for serving. Hell, just for the fact that you enlisted in war time in the first place is a hell of a staement.

My husband left last October and he is supposed to come home September. Maybe you are replacing him! Anyway, from what my husband says, it is relatively dangerous over there. He pretty much says he has to deal with people trying to kill him on a daily basis. That wouldn't be fun for me! He likes the adrenaline rush though, but that's about it!

I would go if the circumstances in my life were different. Right now, I am supporting my deployed husband!

Good luck to you and many thanks for serving!

If I was 18 I'd be there right now. Like any war it's no walk in the park, but I have a friend stationed just outside of Baghdad in the Marines, and he says it is nowhere near as bad as the news says it is.

Before I say anything I wish you a safe return. My husband is deployed right now and it scares me shitless to think he might not come back.
With that said...Nobody in there right mind would WANT to go to war. That's the kind of mentality that scares me. You go for the greater good, but you don't go in skipping and grinning from ear to ear screaming about how many human beings you are going to kill.

Unless the age limit is increased a bit more, I don't qualify
but I'd go in a heartbeat, if called. I know others who would too.

I think it seems bad according to news stories in some areas. [perhaps where there's too few troops.]

I wish you well and Thank You for serving. Good luck, God Bless you and bring you home safely.

First I want to thank you for being part of our Military. I have already been there and back, if called, I would be more than happy to go again. It is not as bad as the media protrays it. It is approaching election time, and the back stabbing and throat cutting has started, never believe the Media or a person running for President, especially if their name starts with a C.

Yes and good luck man. The media only portrays the bad but for some reason it doesn't show the soldiers and Marines who help the people by giving them first aid and water.

Absoulutly. My son has been already with the USMC. My son was at the taking of Fallusha. He said it was not much different than training had been. Just hotter and sand in everything.

The important thing is to just to try to be the best you can be.

It doesn't matter whether you are the best terrrorist or the best freedom fighter. Different sides report different stories.

The only important thing is to be the best you can be at what you do.

Everybody has an opinion as to what that is.
Screw them.
