I mean like childhood memories, high school, family and friends. Just memories of memorable events just fading from your memory. I do because my memories are what made me. I don't want to forget the good times. I think I might start writing them down.

I know. The good memories are less and less these days. The good times are over, and all that is left is isolation and despair. But it's okay. It doesn't matter anymore.

I think writing them down is a very good idea. Whenever something special happens to you maybe try keeping something from that occasion so that you remember it better.

I do worry about my memory are fading. The best thing to keep the memory is to write a diary, what had happened in that way so you will not forgot the good time you have in the past.

KEEP THESE SYMPTOMS IN MIND.
When is your forgetfulness so serious that you should see a professional about it? Dr. Berent suggests the following guidelines:
*Do you lose contact with reality? Its one thing to forget todays date, another to forget the year. If you lose track of where you are, can't remember if its evening or morning, or have forgotten the name of your spouse ( as opposed to someone you just met) , a doctor should be consulted.
*Are you uncomfortabel with yourself? If youre feeling anxious about your recent memory lapses, dont sweat it out-seek a doctors advice.
*Are your performing your day-to -day roles efficiently? If forgetfulness is affecting your work, your role as a parent or grandparent, or any of your other life activities, you may need help.
Above all, says Dr. Berent, know that your memory doesnt have to be perfect to be okay. Some forgetfulness is just part of life.

Memory gets muddled when people start to lie. Once non truth gets mixed in with your stories and memories, it gets hard to sort out what you really experienced later in life. Even exageration to make your story sound better will creep into a reality years later.
Some things I did 20 years ago were so crazy that I have to call a friend to make sure we really did that. Many peoples good times are also clouded with substance abuse so it gets hard to sort that stuff out in ten years.

This is exactly why I journal so much. I feel like if I forget something it's like it never happened, and that freaks me out.

best thing you could do, write them down, you'd be amazed at what comes up as you just write...some things that you had in the back back of your mind just spring back up...and keep on writing...you won't regret it, it's one of the richest experiences i have ever had...when i decided to write my life down...:)
