Well, it's easy to see that you have never served your country. You make a wide ranging typically stupid comment without knowing the facts.
They are doing what they have been trained to do - surviving at all costs - that is the basic instruction and had you been intelligent enough to read into the news reports by ex soldiers and SAS men - you would have been able to deduce that fact from what was being said.
Secondly, I would challenge you to be in this position and not confess - bravado is easy from the comfort of your armchair but I suggest that having a group of armed soldiers probably pointing AK47's or Kalishnikov's at you would probably make you poop your pants.
If you have nothing intelligent to add or say - go play with something more attuned to your mentality - perhaps Lego.

Your ships are also supposed to protect your troops and your Defence Ministry is supposed to back up your ships.
The troops are protecting themselves, and probably the wording of their letters is a signal that they are under duress.
Same thing happened with the crew of the USS Pueblo when it was captured by the North Koreans in 1968.
We'll know a little more once these British sailors and marines are freed.

Who could say where they were. For where they were pointing on the maps it looks like they could've been in either waters. Possibly that they were close and then the Iranian navy just boarded and captured them before they could do anything. However, if theyre so damn well treated why in the **** do they want to go back to England. If it were me I'd talk about how the President got us all laid and we were just sitting around smoking hash and didnt want to go home. Makes you think doesnt it.

Hard for me to make any judgements. Perhaps I'll have some feelings after they are released and I hear their side. Over and over. But even then, how can anyone say how they might REALLY react in that situation. That's why we have heroes in books and movies, because they are so rare in real life.

Sorry - I think I misunderstood your other (and identical) question: I fear that this may well be part of the training - to go along with the iranians and say sorry. It's easier than getting yourself tortured for denying it out and out ! ! !

So, you would rather have your head chopped off instead of going on national TV and lying to save you life long enough to be rescued. They will be rescued, then you will see and hear the real truth.
