yes he is interested.he asked you to watch him play because he is in hopes to impress you. He wants to hear you praise his greatness at playing a sport. It is really more about him then you.

He's just wanting to show off in front of you, hoping that you'll be impressed. He may be interested in you now, but next week his hormones are going to make him interested in a bunch of other girls too. It won't be anything against you personally, guys are just fickle like that. Some of them grow out of it by the time they're 30, but most never do.
