So I work at Apple Computer Inc. and my job is troubleshooting iPod's and the iTunes Software, this is a very fun job but yet requires being on a computer for 8-10 hours a day. I have noticed that towards the end of the day when i'm getting ready for bed, my left wrist/hand becomes very irritated and sore. It's almost like a jolt of pain going up through my wrist and into my hand? I don't have insurance, but I have mentioned this pain to my direct manager, but she doesn't seem to be taking any action in helping me? Am I showing signs of Carpal Tunnel? If so, who should I talk to about seeing a doctor?

Symptoms usually start gradually, with pain, weakness, or numbness in the hand and wrist, radiating up the arm. As symptoms worsen, people might feel tingling during the day, and decreased grip strength may make it difficult to form a fist, grasp small objects, or perform other manual tasks. In some cases no direct cause of the syndrome can be identified. Most likely the disorder is due to a congenital predisposition - the carpal tunnel is simply smaller in some people than in others. However, the risk of developing carpal tunnel syndrome is especially common in those performing assembly line work.

It could possibly be an early sign of carpal tunnel syndrome. You can get a wrist splint to wear at night when you go to bed and it will help relieve the pain during the day. They sell them at your local drugstore and I also was told by my Dr to take Vitamin B and it would also help.

I was tested for carpal tunnel and it was moderate in the right wrist but didn't show in the left even though I had the same symptoms. The pain comes and goes.

Classical carpal tunnel syndrome will cause you to have tingling sensations or even numbness in your thumb, index and middle fingers. These digits are supplied by the median nerve which is being trapped in CTS. You need to see an orthopedic surgeon to get the diagnosis straight.

Pain, numbness, and tingling. Talk to human resources. There should be a form you fill out for a work related injury. Your employer may send you to a doctor of their choice, but you should also see your own doctor and get his opinion too.
