I suggest you have an xray or cat scan to rule out degeneration or thining of the cartlidge, signs of arthritus or alignment issues. Often knee problems stem from problems that originate in the hips or the feet.
Check out the websites below you might find some help or advice. But suffering from two serious knee injuries myself I can only say that exercise and reconditioning and aligning the lower body works wonders. Also taking glucosomine and chondroiton (sp) can help in these cases.
Yes it hurts sometimes and you need to stick to it but thats where a good physical therapist can make a difference. I feel for you deeply as many people who have not experienced the aches and pains and the sadness that comes from these conditions do not understand the drain the pain can take on your health and mental wellbeing.

If they stay stiff all the time you should see a rheumatologist, its probably arthritis. Yes you can have both fibro and arthritis at the same time. A rheumatologist will xray your knees and tell you is its arthritis or if you need to see an orthopedic doctor.

The stiffness is a symptom of Fibro. it sucks in a big way. If you think it could be arthritis you could ask your doc for a blood test to see if it is rheumatiod arthritis. Unfortunately there is no test for osteoarthritis. Anyway, you sound like you should be on some anti-inflammatory meds for the fibro. at least.

I do this too, maybe it's just from getting older. It's possible it is arthritus since this does run in my family. But I've had test and nothing showed up, although sometimes it doesn't always show up on tests.
