Agnostic - read the writings of an early roman emperor called Marcus Aurelius. His "Meditation" is a list of thoughts and ideas on how his universe worked for him. He is credited with being the father of Stoicism and the founding of Gnosticism.

To understand, one must know the field where the facts lie. Is it on a field where heaven exists? Then the objective concepts of the world do not come into play. Faith reigns supreme. As a result, only one answer is pre-ordained.

A Gnostic belief of the world of Socrates, dictates faith has no hold on our objective minds and everything falls logically into place.

Some religions, like Christian Science, try to meet in a different field. A field where Science is true because God decreed them to be true.

So, your belief that the world was divided into a white, gray, and black choice just changed to a spectrum within the rainbow, having both tint and hue.

Pick a side? Why? I choose to remain ambiguous.

Skeptic

Agnostic (the most familiar term)

non-theist (also coincides with agnostic at times)

Weak/strong Atheism

Pan theism (belief in nature like a deity)

Secular humanist

It's hard to define us sometimes. :-)

Note to Shibbole: You have a long way to go before you can prove the existence of god, much less an afterlife. Thus your argument is not convincing. But I present you with the converse: What is the cost of wasting your life on a belief that cannot be proven and is probably false as presented by ancient religious texts?

Going on faith makes all possibilities equally likely. It's equally plausible that Zeus will take you to the Elysian fields after you die. It's equally likely that Elvis will resurrect everyone from the grave after death with an invisible pelvis grind. It's equally likely (or unlikely) that there is a god and afterlife for skeptics and atheists as opposed to conservative Christians- not that I fantasize. If you can't prove your assertion, then I do not think it has a strong founding. In fact, I do not think it has any support.

There is a third actualy and that realy more a statement and that is "I have not such a concept" What I am saying is for Buddhists ,Taost,Shintoist, and others they do not have such a concept. The idea or rather concept of their being an omnipotent god is a alien idea. They (Including me) do not dismiss the concept nor the existence of god we simply cannot concieve theyre being one. We are not agnostics or Athiests it is just that the idea is totaly foriegn to us.
