Just curious, what are the chances of someone getting pregnant if they've been on the pill for about 8 months now, takes it very close to the same time every single day [sometimes like 30-1hr difference], has unprotected sex [never near her ovulation date, always at least a week before and at the end of her ovulation cycle] and the guy pulls out before [and gets it every time because he finishes himself off the last five seconds on his own to make sure he doesn't go inside her]?

Just looking for some info for a friend.

To the people who put "friend", it IS actually for a friend, lol. You don't have to mock me or think I'm embarrassed to ask a question for myself. : )

Okay, the pill is just over 99% effective. About 1 in every hundred to two hundred women on the pill get pregnant per year. That's if your friend takes it at the exact same time every single day as prescribed and is not using any medication such as st. johns wort, antibiotics, antiseziure/mood stabilising medication that can reduce the effectiveness of the pill.

When on the pill, there is no ovulation time because part of the way that the pill works is by stopping ovulation, thickening cervical mucus and thinning the lining of the uterus. This can cause the occasional period to be missed, so if that's the reason behind your question, tell your friend not to worry unless she's missed 2 periods in a row and to continue to take her pills as normal. The pill does NOT harm early pregnancy or cause abortions.

Now, the 'pull out'. It is debated whether or not pre-ejaculate constains sperm, but it is not debated that pulling out can cause pregnancy, but does reduce the chances. In combination with 'the pill', it's likely that your friends chances of becoming pregnant is lowered because he 'pulls out'.

EDIT: She is having protected sex, from pregnancy, but not from sexually transmitted diseases, but if they are both healthy and monogamous or only having sex with other healthy people the odds of contracting an STD are even less than the odds of getting pregnant.

Oh man.....The pill is only like 96% effective....You(your friend)should not only worry about getting pregnant..You need to be worried about gettin an STD or HIV or even HPV( which now has been known to cause cervical cancer)..You can get pregnant on the pill(I'm 7 months pregnant, and was on the pill).Oh well your friend needs to protect herself, because the time has nothing to do with it either, you can get a STD or get pregnant by him just stickin it in, and nut inside her..It also doesn't not matter when the time of the month you do it around..So your friend needs to go to the doctor and get a pap smear, and take an AIDS test(if shes having unprotected sex..or having sex in general..)Also one more thing, pre-nut has sperm in it also, so you could get pregnant that way too..The best way to avoid all this is to use a condom EVERYTIME you have sex...Also tell your friend that five seconds you could be pregnant by then..Regardless, because you do not know what the other person is doing or who they are doing...

The pill is one of the most effective forms of contraception, with a 98% effectiveness rating if taken properly. Condoms rate at only 90%, and an implanted contraceptive like Implanon is almost 100% effective.

Combined with the other strategies, and assuming she takes the pill at the same time every day and doesn't miss any, and doesn't drink alcohol (which can inhibit the pill), she's unlikely to get pregnant.

HOWEVER: keep in mind that contraception does not prevent the spread of STDs. There are lots of really gross, nasty things out there that can be caught from unprotected sex, if she has multiple partners, or her partner has multiple partners.

Being on the pill will give you a 98% effectiveness against getting pregnant.. but other factors can reduce that percentage.. like missing the pill or taking certain other medication..

Tell your friend not to risk it.. remember life will find a way

so long as you take that pill religiously the only chance for pregnancy is that 99.996% that they specify.

but you should let your friend kno that "the pull out" was the cause of many a hippie having a baby. there's a litttle thing called pre c-um (cant belive you cant wirte c-um normally on this thing) that can be a real bi-tch since you dont always see it but its always there.

also regardless of how many pills she takes of how far the c-ock is removed to before the full ejaculation nothing but a condom can prevent the contraction of a sexually transmitted desease. nothing except abstinence of course but where's the fun in that.

Tell your "friend" that if all this is true, the odds of getting pregnant are 1 in seven billion. The odds of getting STDs from unprotected sex, on the other hand, is much much higher regardless of where the guy shots his thigh butter.

very very low chance of getting pregnant --- tell your friend that withdrawing DOES not lessen the risk it just spoils the moment --- the pill works very well and you dont ovulate --- if you are then the pill is not working and you need to see about that --- best wishes

Yes, I'm here. there will always be a remote chance of pregnancy. Sperm is secreted prior to ejaculation in minute quantities in what they call pre-come.
If you want to make completely sure use a condom as well.
