I am so glad that you guys found someone to back up the NWT in BeDuhn, but before you go around telling everyone how great he thinks your bible is, you should also tell them this:
BeDuhn: Having concluded that the NWT is one of the most accurate English translations of the New Testament currently available, I would be remiss if I did not mention one peculiarity of this translation that by most conventions of translation would be considered an inaccuracy, however little this inaccuracy changes the meaning of most of the verses where it appears. I am referring to the use of "Jehovah" in the NWT New Testament. "Jehovah" (or "Yahweh" or some other reconstruction of the divine name consisting of the four consonants YHWH) is the personal name of God used more than six thousand times in the original Hebrew of the Old Testament. But the name never appears in any Greek manuscript of any book of the New Testament. So, to introduce the name "Jehovah" into the New Testament, as the NWT does two-hundred-thirty-seven times, is NOT accurate translation by the most basic principle of accuracy: adherence to the original Greek text. (p. 169) Truth in Translation
Essentially you have put in 237 incorrect references written as JEHOVAH, and this my friends, is a huge distortion of the scripture. Shall I remind you of Gal 1:6-9?
6I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:
7Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.
8But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
9As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.
YOU HAVE INCORRECTLY ALTERED THE GOSPEL OF JESUS AND ARE TO BE ACCURSED!

A wee correction, friend: JWs DO use other Bible translations to try to prove their points. They quote translations other than their NWT in their literature. They are very keen to give the impression that they are fair-minded on this matter. But, give a man enough rope, and he'll hang himself. This has been demonstrated with Papa B's myriad and partial quotes, followed by another answer giving the other, critical, part of one such quote! Don't blame Papa B, though, for he's only lifted from Wt.Soc. literature what his leaders have chosen to tell him. He didn't do any research of his own to check on NWT integrity. It's so sad that the blind are leading the blind; they can't see the noose.
Doctrinal bias does creep into the Bible where differing translations can legitimately be made - when the meaning is not clear. But when JW leaders add words that are just not there in the text, invent Greek grammar that does not exist, and selectively quote authorities to make it look as if they've got sound support when they do not, that is unforgivable.

I am an EX-JW with no love for anything published by the bogus Watchtower.
So here is my honest answer,I don't demonize the NWT New World Translation I once had a library of 30 translations (in English) and the NWT was as good a read as the others,EXCEPT for the presumptuous insertion of the Jehovah name 237 times in the New Testament, this is wrong.
What's really reprehensible is the Watchtower's bogus, false blasphemous interpretations of those scriptures.

The Word of God is the only source which takes preference, and has the final say. False Teachers will acknowledge 90% of a scripture, and add just the right amount of twisting to pervert Truth.
Thus, it's extremely important that True Saints, pray for Discernment and Wisdom from the Holy Spirit to immediately recognize them at work. Praise God!
1 John 4:2-3 - Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
2 Peter 2:1 - But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.
Matthew 7:15 - Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
Blessings, Miji

While I supported use of NWT for 34+ years as a J-Dumbya, I do think it has been corrupted in the same way the J-W's say others were: that is, they INSERTED the supposed name of God into the Greek verses where it didn't exist while criticizing other translations for REMOVING it in the Hebrew verses where it did exist. The problem here is hypocrisy. If it is wrong to remove it where it was and tamper with the Holy Word, then by the same reasoning it is wrong to tamper with the Holy Word and INSERT it where it WASN'T.
As Anna points out, even BeDuhn wonders about this. How can you hypocritically criticise others for what you do yourself?
As for as Ohihana being removed, if you J-Dubs are responsible for her being censored, be careful of your own devices! Once you open the gate of intolerance, it can come back to swing shut on you yourself.
Reply to Ishvarla:
Then perhaps YOU should be reported for engaging in dialogue with other answerers, such as I am with you and you with me and you with Joyfilled. Who died and made you Cybercop and Chief Censorer?
What about YOU breaking the Watchtower's rules against getting on these web sites? IMO, whether Oshihana was poking at the JW's or the Baptists or the Catholics, she did ask a question and a discussion ensued. Even JW's engaged the question.
What about the JW's who get on here with 'leading questions' that are designed to set up a chance to 'witness'? Do you also report them? Do you report the JW's who call names and make hateful comments? Do you report the one who posts quotes from watchtower.org over and over? Or do you just selectively report the ones you personally don't like or who ask questions that expose the hypocrisy of the WT?
This is a place for everyone to come share questions and answers, not just the JW's so they can get in their hours to report each month. I never read any racist comments from Oshihana, if she made any I didn't see them. But I have read hateful mean and even unclean and untrue comments from some who claim to be JW's who still post over and over.
This is just another example of the hypocrisy I personally saw when I was in the WT. They criticise other churches - for example in Bible Translation - then do the very same things they criticise others for doing. Like Danny Haszard, I don't mind reading from the NWT; it's reasonably good and accurate. But, it is hypocritical to criticise other translations for changing verses in the Hebrew text, then do go about changing verses in the Greek text. It is also hypocritical to report someone for bringing such things to public attention, then not report the JW violators.

To answer the questions, I don't read the JW bible, but I have read in it and it is neither better nor worse than others. I think it is wrong to change the NewTestament to use Jehovah when the original manuscripts did not use it anywhere. 'All scripture is inspired" you say, then change the inspired words. "All scripture is inspired and beneficial." If you believe that then you will believe there was a reason, an inspired and beneficial reason that God did not inspire the Christian writers to use his name. And to change the inspired words just because it suits you means you do not respect God's reasons or trust HIM to know what is best.
Ishvarla, you are playing holy over the Y!A board. You cannot Lord over others and censor comments you do not like, then call yourself Christian. Jesus did not do this.
Did you report Wink WInkleman for calling me a liar but then hiding instead of giving proof or retracting his accusation? No, because he is JW. Another person was being hateful to Anna, but did you report that person? No? Because she was JW?
You are selectively enforcing your own views. Setting yourself up as judge. Doesn't the bible say god leaves judging to Jesus?
The question is about the JW Bible. The JW Bible was translated by men who no wonder they did not want to be identified because only one of them had any training in the Biblical languages. The verses I have read in it seem mostly ok, but I do think it is wrong and sinful to change the New Testament and God's own words just because it suits you.
And it is wrong and sinful for you to play God and Lord by choosing who to report and who to cuddle. You are not the Yahoo Policeman or the Yahoo Judge.

Religion-based translations are always suspect. They distort the Word of God to fit their agenda. Either that, or they add another Testament to do the work. It's all a shell game on their part.
Sit alone, pray and ask God to teach you, and just use a King James or New King James Bible. The best influence is the Author Himself.

All bibles have bias. King James Version gets edited all the time over the course of its existance to suit contemporary tastes. All bibles are translations with preferences towards some belief or another. Some bibles say Jesus spent time in hell, other's cut that out, but have additional gospel at the end of Mark with details about the ascension. Their bible isn't special in this customization.

Dear Oshihana,
I agree. You can't debate with the Watchtower Witnesses because they jump from one distorted verse to another.
I have a copy of the NWT and have tried to read it as I read copies of the Bible in any translation. The NWT reminds me of when I was in elementary school and had a paper to write based on material I found in the encyclopedia. When I tried to write the material in my own words it always sounded so stilted. I kept thinking "Who am I, a sixth grader, to do justice to this material?"
In adulthood I struggle to come up with the words to adequately describe what the NWT is. I can't call it the Word of God. I call it a black book, or ABC gum. Reading it is like being short-sheeted. Though the NWT has all the verses, what the Watchtower does with those verses is like the Cliff Notes version. Those of us who speak up about this are very concerned about the eternal price that Watchtower Witnesses are going to be paying!!!
Edit for the Easter bunny: So you are the one who has gotten Oshihana removed yet again. How many times is that now? It might make you feel real good but it makes you look very small. I answered about 3 of her questions about a month ago and then when I would try to look at other answers the next day I couldn't. Once again I tried to look at the question yesterday but couldn't. I tried to click on her profile but couldn't.
So it is okay for you to be hypocritical but not okay for her to tell the Truth which you mistakenly call "anger". Well, Mr Easter Bunny, also known as Isvarlan, I have at times been impressed by your attempts to bring about peace on some answers. But you have now lost all credibility.
With the things that have happened in her life perhaps her anger is justified. And then you go and add fuel to the problem by getting her removed. If you don't like her questions why not just move on to a different question?

JW's simply believe that they are the lone authority on scripture interpretation.....
Funny how of the 7 men who supposedly interpreted it into English....only one sort of understood Greek....and even he got it wrong.
The NWT is heretical and a cultish fallacy.....
I pray for these people who have fallen for the lie
