When you buy smoothies already made they are only a little bit thick. When I make mine I put in the yogurt and the fruit and just a little skim or low-fat soy milk (To keep sugar content down and I also use lower sugar yogurt) I put it in the blender and I add more yogurt or milk if needed if it is too thick or too thin. Adding bananas is to them is good.

Start with some liquid, like milk or juice, that will be your base. Use frozen yogurt (not soft serve), sorbet, and frozen fruit with the base to make it a smoothie. There should be about 12 oz of liquid, 2 scoops of sorbet or yogurt, and about 8 oz frozen fruit.

Add yogurt, granola and flax seed.
That is a great energy boost and make it nice & thick.
