I have severe acne, and i just got proactive for it recently hoping it would clear up my skin. Have any of you used proactive, if so, how long did it take for your skin to clear? I have been using for about 2 weeks, and im not sure how much better my skin is looking. i think the pimples are flatter, but still big and red. Is there anything that i can do to help the redness? What is a good cover up? (It has to be non-comedogenic) please help!! this is so frusterating

What works better than anything is washing your face with liquid Dial antibacterial soap at least twice a day, followed by the use of a toner such as Oxy pads (note that the store brand is the same thing), and then a spot treatment for pimples themselves...Drying Cream by Mario Badescu http://www.mariobadescu.com
works better than anything else I have found, and their Drying Mask is great too.
If your acne is really bad try putting a damp hot as you can stand it wash cloth on your face after washing but before toning. Leave on for a couple of minutes.Warning...it will sting something awful when you use the toner..because the heat opens up your pores...feel free to swear !
Taking sea salt baths helps with all over acne problems, use a cup or two in your bath once or twice a week.
One other thing I would like to add...what you eat and drink plays a big factor...so lay off the sodas and overly salty foods try for more water and fresh fruit.
Good luck and if you have very severe acne for an extended amount of time and nothing helps go to the doctor. Acne can cause nasty infections.

I'm not sure about proactive, as I've never used it.
But tea-trea oil helps with clearing pimples up. It acts as an antiseptic, and reduces inflamation. I find it takes about 3 days to get rid of redness from popped pimples if I use tea tree oil. It would probably take a bit longer to clear up an "unpopped" pimple because of the fats under the skin, but I'm sure it would help.
Be careful if you have really sensitive skin though as tea tree oil can dry it out a bit if you use it lots.

I used it. It made my skin look and feel cleaner right away, but did it get rid of the pimples? Not! Nothing ever does. I'm fed up too. Beware- over a 3 week time period my face started to get fine lines, now I have pimples and I look old. Just don't stress about it, girl, the more stress you have the more break-outs you'll get. As far as make-up, use neutrogena.

While it took little less than two months for me to really see a difference, my acne, blackheads and whole lot of other skin problems I had such as eczema had completely cleared! It was totally amazing...
