I doubt you are serious with this question. You know deep inside yourself the answer, too. I doubt that you or anyone would appreciate flippant and crass discussions about your Mother or Father. How is it then you expect different when you make crass, immature comments about a something believed to be so much greater than one's parents?

Is this behavior the way you want to represent yourself? I know you feel emboldened hiding behind the anonymity of the computer, but deep inside yourself I believe you know how poisonous what you are doing will become for you. Your parents did not raise you this way, and the people you truly admire in this world do not act similarly. Try to measure up to the standards to which you were raised. You will find the respect you will receive from others, and your own self-respect to be immeasurable.

I don't think it's necessarily "brainwashing." Parents teach their children the religion they were taught, but we all make the choice as to which religion or lack thereof, we feel most comfortable with. If it doesn't feel right, then we explore other options. Everyone is given this opportunity, but the only reason many people choose to simply believe in what their families believe is because they are either lazy or afraid of the consequences. People need something to believe in, for the most part, and believing what everybody else believes seems to be the least challenging option. Besides, there are so many people that claim "christianity" but don't follow the religion very closely that it is a very loose religion in today's society.

As for the insanely religious bible-thumpers, well, they are weak minded and afraid to be themselves. Maybe they are brainwashed, but only by their own fears and inhibitions.

I assume brainwashed is a negative term, like someone was taken advantage of and lied to, etc. I'm a believer in Jesus Christ and believe the bible, but I can tell you for sure I didnt sit at some humans feet and believe everything they said. Thats not my personality. I question everything. I came to the conclusion that Jesus Christ is the way, truth and life, on my own. Even if a person doesnt believe the total bible, the good news is very clear.

YES WE ARE!

And more than that, we have been washed and sanctified by the Word of truth. We read of this in Ephesians 5 where it is written, "...just as Christ loved the church and gave himself for her to sanctify her by cleansing her with the washing of the water by the word, so that he may present the church to himself as glorious – not having a stain or wrinkle, or any such blemish, but holy and blameless."

In a word, yes. They're not brainwashed by jesus... they're brainwashed by those who tell them that god is real, get them to read the brainwashing manual (bible) and then keep lying to them about how they can go to heaven. All in the name of control and money.

Yup... the answer is yes.

Romans 12:2 (New International Version)
2Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Be nice.

"Such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and in the Spirit of our God."
