Perhaps he did not write it. These mysteries are shrouded in the cloud of the past.

I really think that the one's who wrote the New Testament didn't have the thought that it would be what it is today. There were the scriptures that they knew, what we would call the Old Testament, and did notesteem themselves capable of become equated with the writers of the Old Testament.
And then there is another factor ( One more after this one actually). God inspired those to write the Old Testament. And if it's true what time was God supposed to do that? In whose time would it be okay to write the New? By what standard are we to judge God's timing, after all, it was supposed to be inspired by God, right?
And then finally, when exactly were they written? Since we do not have the originals, we only have the copies, when exactly were they written? They are only guessing. Matthew could have written his Gospel the day after Pentecost for all we know. ( I don't think that he did, I'm just saying; none of us were there.)

The Apostles were told to go out and teach. They later wrote as they were inspired by GOD to do so. John was captive by Roman Guards on the Isle of Patmos when he wrote the last book Revelation about 100 AD. It was written so that the Roman Guards could not understand it and the Churches could. Have a great day and a wonderful week.
Thanks,

The early apostles thought that Jesus return would be in their life time, they thought His return would be imminent. John was not the only author of the New Testament
Who are you referring to as "John. et al"? I'm confused who you mean.

Actually, it was less than forty years after Jesus' death that John wrote the Revelation of Jesus Christ. My understanding is that the rest of the Epistles were written well before John wrote Revelation. The time span is very minimal for any types of errors to have occurred. We have some plays of Shakespeare's that were written 300 years after his death, but they never get questioned about their authenticity.

Maybe, because he was too busy doing missionary work and preaching the gospel. While there were so many eye-witnesses still alive there was not so much need for a written testimony, but as the eye-witnesses were dying or being killed then the urgency to write the gospels increased.

It really wasn't 'so long' considering how quickly the books were written compared to the teachings of Buddha, for example, which were not written until the first century AD/CE.
The books were written rather soon after the death of Jesus, only a matter of years. But in any case,it was a society where language and the spoken word wasthe main means of communication.

Got to take some time for memories to fade ...... easier to make a mind controlling documents with documentations with a lot of falsehood and a bit of truth in it.
It also takes some time for all in the bible to pass on, so no one can reject the "truthness" of the bible. :P
(For Serena, Last I known, the Pali Canon and the Suttapitaka were compiled 3 months after buddha's death and it is a collection throughout 40 years with consultation from 25,000 disciples.)

Well seeing how alot of it is based off of the recollection of eye witnesses, I'm sure back then it wasn't all that easy for a person to get in contact with all of them.

3 centuries isn't really that long. they just didn't write it things done at the time of Jesus. All the things in the bible are written from stories that were told for generations.
