I do not worship anything, but its
the reverent love and devotion accorded a deity, an idol, or a sacred object to the believer.

Worship is the time when you literally praise the Lord. If you look up some scriptures in the Bible, you will find that alot of times worship can be the lifting of one's hands (as a symbol of surrender to God:surrendering your troubles, surrendering yourself, or even offering up your praise to God). Worship (most of the time) is singing, "making a joyful noise", shouting to God...basically worship is physically, vocally and mentally expressing joy for God, happiness to be one of His believers and declaring/proclaiming His awesomeness...(I think that's a word)*
Anyway, you can actually visit wikipedia to find out more about worship. If you type in Christianity in the 'search' bar, the little outline tab on the left hand side will have an "article" on worship. It's pretty interesting...I'm in the choir at my church and even wikipedia's got it right for the most part, there's nothing better than actually experiencing it!
I can't wait until the Sunday....!!!!!!

Worshiping God is far more than what we do on a sunday morning. Worship should be 24/7. We need to be worshiping Him with our lives, our hearts and our minds. I know so many Christians say, it is what we do when we get together and sing some chorus' on a sunday morning. That is not worship. Anyone can sing- it is what is in the heart that God looks at. If I chose to live my life for myself monday-saturday and then go to church and raise my hands and close my eyes and sing- that is not acceptable to Him. My life needs to be a sacrifice of praise daily. A person who is totally committed to the Lord is the one who is truly worshiping. Worship should be our lifestyle.

Worship is hard to describe. It encompasses many things.

It is being amazed and the wonderful things in God's creation.

It is recognizing his ultimate majesty.

It is realizing how small and insignificant you are next to creation, but knowing that He loves you anyway.

It is thanking Him for all the good things He has done for you.

It is resting in the truth that He is God.

Oh and to the one known as scifiguy, I have answered some of the same questions as you in the entertainment section...nice picture.

Why would he want worship from us? Because He made us and wants us to love Him as much as He loves us because of who he is. Also note that this was addressed to only worshippers of the one true God, so although you are currently not one of us, there's still time to join us.

God loves you!

It's a contraction of two English words. Worth Ship. It's placing value upon what is being valued. It can be an act of faith that may include prayer, giving to God for the recieving of the Gospel, a thankful act, and giving to the poor in His name, and fasting, as in putting yourself on the line, giving up of material things in order to place the trust of the believer in God.

Matthew 6 is a good concertration of the kinds of worship that I draw from.

Worship is praising God. It is an act of sacrifice. You can worship in many ways other than lifting your hands to God and praising him. You can worship by serving other people and being spiritually uplifting.

God does not require our Worship becuase he has loads and loads of angels in heaven doing it. But, the big But, he desires it so.

Worshipping, we're always taught, is giving glory to God through your actions, words, and heart. Everything you say, think, and do, that glorifies God is an act of worship. We do it regularly by singing hymns, praying, reading the bible, sharing our love for God with others, and showing the love that is given to us from God, toward others.

I just taught my class on this.

Did you know that the original word was WORTHship??

It is showing God how much He is worth to you!!!

It can be done in many forms, too - anything you do that shows God He is worthy! Maybe that is singing to one person, or praying to another. Obedience truly is another way. And giving. Reading your Bible is worship because you are giving value to what God has said. Many many other ways.

Be blessed!

Allowing God to be first in all you do. Asking him to keep you close to him throught the day with constant prayer and thanksgiving, asking him to guide you on everything... even the most simpliest of daily things. God Bless your desire to become closer!
