and give offerings?

And these scriptures are given for our instruction and admonition.

Those warnings were for Israel not us. Sorry. When we do tithe though we should do it joyfully and gratefully. Also, if we are in debt (and I'm not talking about car payments or a mortgage), then we really shouldn't be giving til its taken care of.

These scriptures are given for our instruction and admonition if we live during the Old Testament times. In caes you haven't noticed: Jesus came, was tortured and murdered, arose from the dead, and was taken into heaven for our sins. HIS Testament is the New Testament. We live during that period and we are NOT told to tithe but to "give as we have been prospered" on the first day of the week. The Israelites were to tithe and to meet on the Sabbath day (Saturday). Grab a BIBLE and begin studying it. I would be glad to assist.
Thanks,
Eds

Yes, I know.
But it is for the people of the Old Testament.
I belong to the New Testament, such that instead of offering, mercy must be well developed in our heart. Read Matt.9:13 and 12:7.

Are you trying to make some $$ for yourself??

1. That was a greater story from which you took those verses out of context

2. Jesus created a new covenant that pretty much overrides the Old Testament

3. Why waste your time on Y/A? You should be mailing letters to old ladies telling them you'll pray for them. I'm sure someone will send you money they really don't have.

No, I know that the passage you are referring to is one of the ones that the Prosperity Gospel charlatans cherry pick out of the whole context of God's Word when they are fleecing the flock for money. Then when a person's blessing from Heaven doesn't get poured out they charge the person with a lack of faith and cherry pick this verse to justify their lies.

James 1:6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. 7 For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord;

Try to put it in a different prospect;

Jehovah states that they have robbed him by failing to bring their very best as offerings for his temple service. (Malachi 3:7, 8) Having become part of Jehovah’s people, we should indeed want to devote the best part of our energies, abilities, and material assets to the service of Jehovah. Thus, rather than rob God, we ‘keep on seeking first the kingdom and his righteousness.’—Matthew 6:33.

There is a grand reward for all who put the self-serving, materialistic ways of the world behind them, as Malachi 3:10-12 indicates: “‘Test me out, please, in this respect,’ Jehovah of armies has said, ‘whether I shall not open to you people the floodgates of the heavens and actually empty out upon you a blessing until there is no more want.’” To all appreciative ones, Jehovah promises spiritual prosperity and fruitfulness. He adds: “All the nations will have to pronounce you happy, for you yourselves will become a land of delight.”

I've seen a personal fulfillment of this.

Tithing was a part of the Mosaic Law. Binding upon the Jews. Not binding on Christians. Never introduced upon Christians. Christians are admonished to give from the heart. They are not obligated to give a certain percentage.

If you believe that the Bible is there to guide your life, go right ahead and follow it to the letter. Keep me posted on the sacrifices and the like in Leviticus.
