I want a point-and-shoot camera for Washington D.C. Keep in mind that there might be lots of dark nightime shots, and possibly bright daytime shots.

• Higher than 5 MP (Preferably 6+)
•Lower than 10 MP

•Higher than 3 Optical Zoom (Preferably 4+)
•I don't care about Digital Zoom

•IMAGE STABILIZATION is one of the top priorities!!!

•High Quality Movie/Video Capture
I prefer:
-640 by 480 pixels
-30 fps
-If possible, microphone on the front and/or zooming in or out while taking a video, but this is a low priority

•Good daytime AND nightime shots

•Optical viewfinder doesn't really matter to me much

**ASSUME THAT PRICE IS NOT A FACTOR**

* 2.5-inch color LCD monitor
* Real-image optical viewfinder
* Glass, 6x 5.8-34.8mm lens (equivalent to 35-210mm zoom on a 35mm camera)
* 4.0x digital zoom
* AiAF autofocus and a manual focus mode
* AF Assist light for low-light focusing
* Automatic, Program AE, Shutter Priority, Aperture Priority, and Manual exposure modes, as well as 10 preset Scene modes plus Stitch Assist
* Manually adjustable aperture setting ranging from f/2.8 to f/8.0, depending on lens zoom position and shutter speed
* Shutter speed range from 1/2,000 to 15 seconds, depending on aperture (Shutter times longer than 1 second only available in shutter-priority and manual exposure modes and some scene modes.)
* Built-in flash with three operating modes plus red-eye reduction
* SD/MMC memory storage
* Power supplied by two AA batteries or optional AC adapter
* Image stabilization
* Movie mode (with sound), up to 640 x 480 at 30 fps
* Sound caption recording

Google it "Canon Powershot A710 IS review" and you will find several reviews of this camera to read through.

I have heard much good about this camera on a Canon forum I belong to.

Pentax has internal stabilization and some of their point and shoot are very reasonably priced. The Optio is a good Choice. The Canon Powershot has 5 models and range from 4.0 to 10.1 megapixels. They are probably the best point and shoot cameras on the market. If you really want to pay a little more and learn to use a DSLR then the Pentax 100 has the Image stabilization and has oodles of options and if you get stuck can operate in automatic mode. It is around $700. It is 6.1 megapixels and would be my choice.

That sounds like a exceedingly strong deal genuinely. no longer certain how far away you stay or how lengthy the vacation is, yet when it really is adequate that you're flying to Washington DC and the airfare and inn is protected - then it easily sounds like it really is well worth it. maximum college journeys will educate you a lot, and the benefit of Washington is that exceedingly a lot all the "vacationer" stuff is exceedingly close. i'm certain you receives to work out a lot - there are such extremely some museums and monuments and positively the White domicile and US Capital and each and every thing else. So i ought to assert do it!
