The Euro is welcomed almost everywhere. The only country that may not like it could be the US (a joke). As someone else suggested, it is better to exchange your euros into the local currency (YTL=new turkish lira) at a bank or Exchange Office. Or better still, use your credit card. Although shopkeepers and restaurants will accept euros at a slightly lower rate, it will not make much difference unless you are buying something really expensive. Otherwise, the difference will be just a few cents.

Yes, but if you would try to pay in USD or EUR you are surrendering yourself to the exchange rate that shopkeeper, restaurant will define. The chances of getting cheated is higher with this. I would recommend to find a change office (DOVIZ BUROSU in Turkish) and change your money there instead of paying with euros. Another wise idea would be to use credit card.

yes but remember that they have to give you change in YTL so don't pull out a 200Euro note to pay for dinner, unless you ate an awful lot. Leave the lower denomination coins at home. You can exchange your EUROs at exchange offices which are EVERYWHERE!!!!
The advice about you being at the mercy of the shop owner's exchange rate is good advice.
