I am looking for some real suggestions that might improve auto racing. I am a huge fan but I still think there are some things they can do to improve it. Nascar fans only, please!!

NASCAR needs to quit changing the rules so much! Rule changes seem to come as much as a diaper change on a newborn baby. They also need to change or get rid of some of their most recent changes, like:

1) Get rid of the top 35 rule that allows the teams in the top
35 in owners points a guaranteed "in" on race day. Lower
that number to maybe the top 5 or top 10. This would
allow more to teams an opportunity to race in.

2) Drop one race each from Pocono, California, Phoenix
and Lowes Motor Speedway (they race there 3 times a
year). Return the Labor Day weekend race to Darlington
where it belongs! Put a race date back at Rockingham!
Use the other two dates to open up new venues at tracks
in the midwest!

3) Get rid of the C.O.T. If I wanted to watch a car with an air
splitter and a wing, I'd watch the GT class, F1, IRL, or
some race with eurosports. It's NASCAR for crying out
loud! Not the "Fast and the Furious."

4) If you're going to have rules, make the OFFICIAL, and
stand by them the same way every time. Not on a whim,
giving preferential treatment to some teams and then
coming down like a hammer on other teams.

I think the racing has been pretty good with the COT so far (close finishes and they're holding up decent) so I would suggest they just do it full time next year. They need to get the bugs worked out of it (fuel cable, burning foam, balance). One of the first things I would do is strictly limit the amount of provisionals to 3 for last year's winner (and ANY other previous champ), 2 for the next 10 drivers and 1 each for the rest of the top 25 from the previous year. No more top 35 being locked in and the new teams will have a fighting chance to get into more races. I would make sure that ALL teams have the same amount of practice time for the first practice session before qualifying. I would limit the chase to 8 or 10 at the most and give a bigger benefit to entering the chase as the points leader (like at least 25 points or more between each spot). I do like the chase format for the fact that the last few races can otherwise be fairly meaningless if someone is way out front in the standings. I would change the lucky dog rule so a driver could only get it once per race. I would try to incorporate 2 dirt races a year (equal to the number of road races). I would get rid of so many tracks getting 2 races and try to hit some new (and some they used to go to). I would like to get rid of restrictor plates but would need more information on how the COT will perform on the super speedways before I could suggest they do that. If caught blatantly cheating I would suspend cars along with their team (not drivers) from races. I'm sure there are more but that's all I've got for now.

Stay with the old cars and not go to the COT's, they are a joke with the crappy splitters, more harm than good. Also, do without the chase, its supposed to be who has the best season, not a mediocre first 26 races to get in, then a great last 10 races, not how racing is supposed to be. Its about consistency throughout the whole entire year. How bout some better music to kick it all off and not the crap like we saw at Daytona with that ugly idol girl who cant sing worth a flip, and more old timers of the sport giving the famous race words like Richard Petty did at Martinsville. Its all about the roots in Nascar and history, so keep up the tradition!!

Get rid of the C.O.D junk machine that was suppose to help smaller teams compete. (yeah right Hendrick has won two in a row).
Get rid of the Nextel sponsor that cares only about money and not about the real fan base. Let whatever sponsor that has money in no matter who they are. Gas companys and cell phone companys ect.
Let the tv show the entire race even in a small screen during all the commercials. Nothing turns people off more that watching alot of commercials.
Let the drivers bump and bang alttle for postion. Thats what attracts alot of fans is the rivals.
Get the teams a box to work with and as long as the cars are in it let it be legal. To many stupid *** rules no days.
Again get rid of the car of tommorow.

First I think they should can the car of tomorrow and stick with the race they've had for several years. To me, racing is about going fast not going slower.

Second, I think getting into a race by owner points should only be used maybe twice in a season. I think the past champions provisional is OK to use and I'm glad Nascar has limited that to 6 times. To me, you either qualify for the race or you don't.

Third, allowing the Chase to have 2 more cars was a good move. There's several drivers that just barely miss the Chase and now it will be more interesting. Last season, Tony Stewart scored more points in the last10 races than any of the Chase drivers, but he missed making the Chase itself.

And finally, this one is for the fans at the track. I've been to 4 races and have one major complaint that was at every track. Ban cigarette smoking from the grand stands. Have smoking areas for the wannabe cancer patents and let us non smokers enjoy a race without having to inhale all that poison. If a person can't sit thru a 3 hour event without having a cigarette, they're in bad shape.

im with everyone else, ditch the provisionals ALL of them, if your in your 40s or 50s and the only reason you race is cause you won 7 years ago you need to retire and let the new blood in,
as for all of you cot wing bashers damn near every car on the road today has some sort of wing, my pontiac g6 does, what i never see is a rear spoiler so get over your self,

no more lucky dog, if you cant fight for your position you shouldnt get the position,

but to barrow one thing from europe, i want a podium, first second third, let the three celebrate with chanpagine, 3rd place out of 43 cars after 500 miles is something to celebrate

NASCAR sees where the money is.The fact that names like Gordon,Stewart,Earnhardt,Johnson,Kenseth,Kahne are some of the biggest NASCAR wants to capitalize from them so the chase was invented. Then when the biggies don't make it and money drops NASCAR changes to give them a chance.
Then to saaure drivers in the field NASCAR created the top 35 rule. This way if a driver has a poor day he is still in the field and a faster car from a semi-regular would go home. This protects NACAR money assuring the bigger named drivers are in the field.
Then changing body style of cars so they all look the same is a mystery.Sure in the long run the expense is down but NASCAR needs to go back to teams getting cars from the factories.
But bottom line NASCAR reads the suggestions fans make. Most are laughted at but others are considered.ANyway NASCAR sees to improve the race or saftey of driver ,team, and fan they will.
Go back to consistancy wins the title.
Go back to fastest 43 race.
Go back to getting cars from the factory.
But what ever make it so the fans get a good show.
That's all I have to say about that.

Dump the COT; whoever said get the cars from the factories, I am with you on that one

Return to the winston cup points format, even if it wrought boring champ MK

Take 1 race away from Cali and Phoenix to have more available for different tracks but leave Charlotte alone :)

Stop the irritating practice of caution flags for "debris" (usually WHERE??) every time it's convenient for the teacher's pet(s)

There should be no set field. That is completely ridiculous because great drivers don't get to race and if they don't have the fastest time at two tracks they are screwed for the rest of the year. I am sick and tired of seeing it. I think that needs to go. Also I think that they should widen the field to like 3 more drivers or so. That would be good to see.

I'd like to see double file restarts. Put the lapped cars at the back and let them battle each other for the Lucky Dog. And also throw the restrictor plates in the trash. And bring racing back to Rockingham. And get rid of these late start times. East Coast races should start at 1p.m.
