It's going to be intersting to see this play out.

You figure that Bush will VETO the spending bill.

The house and senate will not be able to over ride the veto.

Reid has now said, if that happens, then he will introduce a bill to cut all funding.

While the House may be able to win a vote to cut all Iraq funding.

The Senate has no way to gain the 60 voted needed.

So then what happens?

The Pentagon has money for Iraq to last through May.

If the Congress does not approve any funding measure, what happens then?

The Republicans will slame the Democrats for not funding the troops in combat.

The big question is, will the Democrats have what it takes to stand up to the critism they will likely get for not passing a funding bill.

Generally in stand offs between the President and Congress over funding bills, the President has the better position and the public usually sides with the President.

The question is, which side will the public side with this time ?

While a slim majority of the public want the troops out of Iraq by late next year.

Only about 20% want the troops out NOW .

That would seem to me, to help Bush's position alot more than the Democrats position, if they decide to stop all funding.

Definition of madness: to keep doing the same thing that doesn't work over and over again... Bush is demented

That 500 billion we blew on attacking Iraq (in order to make some conservatives giddy) could have built hospitals, roads, schools etc etc and not cost lives
