There is a visible straight line down the centre of her tummy and each side is a very slightly different shade. Does anyone know what might have caused this and will it go away as she gets older?

It is possible that your daughter was going to have a twin early in the pregnancy, but one twin failed to develop. The failed twin was then 'absorbed' by the more sturdy one, and has now grown into a lovely child with two-tone skin.

The word is "chimera", but people get a weird notion of what that is because of science fiction writings.

This kind of human chimera is not really common, but in sets of living fraternal twins (not identical) almost 8% of them show evidence of chimerism in their blood. They sometimes have two types of blood flowing in their systems at once!

Other evidence of human chimerism could be having eyes of differing colors or even hair of different colors.

As your daughter grows and wants to become a mother, you might counsel her to have a genetic work up. No, there are no indications of birth defects, but there have been a few rare cases of Mothers who have no apparent DNA link to their own children at the blood level.

A couple of these cases have had legal issues, but mostly it comes up when either a parent or a child needs a transplant, and the children of a chimera Mother have DNA that doesn't match up at all! It could cause confusion if it comes up as a surprise. Experienced DNA technicians can usually find the links hidden inside the Mother, sometimes in hair, skin, or other tissue samples.

Here is a link to a website of a lady who has this condition, and suffered some legal issues. She was one subject on a Discovery Health show called "I am my own twin".

Many people strive to attain lighter, brighter, healthier-looking skin. Learning to properly care for your skin on a day-to-day basis will help your skin stay light and tight, while more substantial and scientifically-proven lightening products are also widely available. In my opinion this is the best method https://tr.im/6Ri46
