Luke 6:27 But I say unto you which hear, love your enemies, do good to them which hate you, bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you.
That's about as cut and dry as you can get. Good luck with your endeavor, but I'd bet you money that the fanatics will find a way to twist even that verse into something that suits their hateful purposes. There's no arguing with a lot of these people. Even in the face of plain old scripture they still hold fast to their twisted views.

If you want to "prepare" for Easter ( Resurrection Sunday) then do it . This is an aw some event to celebrate! Your Savior rose from the dead to give you new life, everlasting life.
No person can condemn you to hell or send you to Heaven. The subject is not one to argue over. None of us have "arrived" so as to be able to tell others that they should "live just like us". All of us are a work in progress who need a lot of grace.
Edit: Sorry, you asked for Bible verses to support what you are asking. Start in Genesis and go to Revelation. The whole Bible supports the fact that we are all a work in progress.

Band: As a Christian, I can tell you this. There are those who place emphasis on "do's and don'ts" (legalism) of the Bible - like those Jewish religious leaders, who had Jesus Christ murdered ! Then, there are true, genuine Christians who emphasize and practice Christian love ( Christians who believe that Christian love is what you ARE not what others are NOT). A Bible scripture to "combat" those legalists is this (although, somewhat, simplistic) " God for so LOVED the world, that He gave His only Begotten Son [Jesus] " from John, chapter 3, 16th verse. Notice that there is no conditions to meet to be worthy of Jesus Christ's nor God's love - as those fanatics would have you believe.
P.S. "Martin S" gives a synopsis of the "holier-than-thou" attitude of the legalists that you have encountered. Can you just imagine what Jesus Christ ( God as a man, here on Earth) went through, at the hands of "organized religion" in His day, before they had Him murdered for not conforming to their standards ? !!!

Matthew 5:38-48 is getting a heck of a workout tonight, but:
38 "You have heard that it was said, 'An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.' 39 But I say to you, Do not resist one who is evil. But if any one strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also; 40 and if any one would sue you and take your coat, let him have your cloak as well; 41 and if any one forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles. 42 Give to him who begs from you, and do not refuse him who would borrow from you.
43 "You have heard that it was said, 'You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' 44 But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. 46 For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? 47 And if you salute only your brethren, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same? 48 You, therefore, must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
-----
Matthew 22:37-40, towards them:
"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."
-----
First ones that come to mind. I'm sure there's ones on 'I go to church, so I'm better than you, and I go to this particular church, so I'm better than other church-goers,' but I can't find them specifically on short-order.

There must be a lot of people who love you and are concerned about you.
If you really want no part of God and His salvation plan, you can use Matt10:14:
"And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when you leave the house or city shake off the dust of your feet." This is what Jesus told the disciples to do if people would not receive the Word of God.

Yes it’s called the New Testament. Throughout it Jesus is clearly teaching spirituality and mocking/attacking every sort of dogma and religious establishment. In there he is also reported as saying “The prostitutes are entering the kingdom ahead of you.”
“You” meaning scripture thumping religious fanatics.
So what did the Christians do? They made a mainstream religion about Jesus full of dogmas, rules, regulations, bibles, etc.

All you can do is find and live the truth. In this way you will be a living example and light to all those who are blind to it.
In Paul's writings he states over and over again that one is saved by the grace of God which comes through the faith and devotion of the believer. Only this faith - this allowing God in your life as a Christian and submitting yourself to him saves you. Works are an outwards showing of your this grace - but they do not help you 'earn' salvation. Look through his writings - it's all over the place.
And those that deny other Christians are claiming to know the mind of God. They do not know what is in these believer's hearts. Allow them their delusions - there is no good argument. They will merely say that you are decieved and try to 'help' you see the light.
Pray for them - be patient and respect them. Be slow to angry and wise with your words.

First of all, you need to clarify what "they" actually said.
Next, you need to figure out why it bothered you so much.
Third, you need to read the Bible yourself, so you know the facts that are written there.
Then you will be able to tell whether or not someone is speaking truth, or a deception.
I encourage you to do that, and may God Bless His Word as you read it, receive it and obey it.

Romans 14:4 Who are you to pass judgment on the servant of another? It is before his own master that he stands or falls. And he will be upheld, for the Lord is able to make him stand.
5 One person esteems one day as better than another, while another esteems all days alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind. 6 The one who observes the day, observes it in honor of the Lord. The one who eats, eats in honor of the Lord, since he gives thanks to God, while the one who abstains, abstains in honor of the Lord and gives thanks to God.
Luke 10:29 But he, desiring to justify himself, said to Jesus, "And who is my neighbor?"
30 Jesus replied, "A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he fell among robbers, who stripped him and beat him and departed, leaving him half dead. 31 Now by chance a priest was going down that road, and when he saw him he passed by on the other side. 32 So likewise a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side.
33 But a Samaritan, as he journeyed, came to where he was, and when he saw him, he had compassion. 34 He went to him and bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he set him on his own animal and brought him to an inn and took care of him. 35 And the next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper, saying, 'Take care of him, and whatever more you spend, I will repay you when I come back.'
36 Which of these three, do you think, proved to be a neighbor to the man who fell among the robbers?" 37 He said, "The one who showed him mercy." And Jesus said to him, "You go, and do likewise."
