God said that humans have control over animals, correct? So if we do, can we ourselves determine wether or not they will be in Heaven with us? Can we pray and ask God if a certain pet will be in Heaven, waiting at our mansion he promises us?

Only God determines who or what enters Heaven, but I believe that animals are a part of His creation, and will be there. And God does much to make His children happy, doesn't He? So pray, and I believe your faith will be rewarded.

In the Jewish bible (the JPS which is taken from the Hebrew versions carried down by the Jewish people throughout their existence) it says that animals were created with a soul. It may not be on the same level as humans, but they are still created with this soul - the life spark and knowledge of God.

Based on that - I would have to say in this belief system that they would be taken care of by God. That there is no human intervention needed. God wont leave them hanging - there is a plan and place already there for them.

And by the way - just because humans have control over animals does not mean that they have a say in what happens past this world. That is God's sole domain - already set in motion before any of us now living took our first breath.

God gave Adam rule over the earth, including animals. Adam gave this up when he sinned. Since then, satan is the prince of the air (earth). Satan tempted Jesus in the desert to give Jesus the entire earth if Jesus would bow down to him. Jesus quoted scripture and resisted the devil. But, Jesus takes the scroll (title deed to the earth) in Revelation and cleanses the earth (Tribulation). Then Jesus rules and reigns on this renewed, restored earth during the Milllennium, for 1000 yrs. The Bible states there will be animals in the Millennium. Jesus brings Heaven (New Jerusalem ) down and over the earth after the Tribulation. Whether God will recreate our loved pets or not, I hope so, tho I don't think anyone knows for sure. Do they have a soul? I think they may, but of course not like ours. But the fact that God surrounded man with animals for us to enjoy, as with Adam, Noah etc certainly shows how important animals are. I'm currently listening to a CD "Heaven" by Randy Alcorn - Has a book also. It's based on the bible of course and is very uplifting. I recommend it!! Also, Jack VanImpe has a DVD you can order from him about animals in heaven. Read Revelation.

I really do not know, I have been meaning to research this subject and I plan to do so soon.

In the meantime, you may be interested in a book that was written by Dr. Jack Van Impe(biblical prophecy scholar),who believes beyond any shadow of doubt that our little friends will indeed be with us in heaven.

ps it is entitled "Animals in Heaven"...and may be only available on dvd or vhs....not sure about the book.

I think our dominion over the animals was diminished after the fall. I'm not sure what happens to pets. It's hard for me to believe that their service to us is not rewarded in some way, but I can't point to a scripture and say what happens for sure.

That's one of the things I have to leave in God's hands. But I think it's perfectly appropriate for you to tell God your feelings on the matter.

I like C. S. Lewis's notion that faithful pets will be in the heavenly places, but there's no scripture to support that.

we have "domain" not control. The bible states the animals are there for our survival ie..food source. I dont' remember hearing anything about a mansion either, sorry. I would worry about the current life before you start making plans for the next one. But as far as pets in heaven, its not heaven if you don't have your loved ones right??

ummmmm...

Its not that we have godlike dominion over them. We are there masters and they are our slaves. God could bring pets to hevean if they have souls, which is a whole new point of discussion. I say they do have souls, but in a different sense as us. More simple. I suppose animals follow their master to wherever they go. The wild ones probably go to some oter place, Eden perhaps.

God made animals for us just like he made trees and food for us. They were put here for food and enjoyment as well (and also for the cycle on this earth). They are part of his creation and were made FOR us. Think of you creating your own world and wanting your loved ones to be happy, so you create little creatures to make them happy. Thats all they are I wish i could say my dog is going to heaven cuz i want him up there, but I think we are going to be so blown away with heaven you aren't going to worry about your dog in heaven. Besides, your animal can't believe in heaven and hell.
