Sure, here are a few that every believer should have memorized.

John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

John 14:6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 8:28 And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.

Ephesians 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

Philippians 4:6 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

James 1:2 Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, 3 for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. 4 And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.

1 Peter 5:6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, 7 casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.

8 Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.

9 Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world. 10 And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.

(Psalms 122:6) 'Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem, may those who love you prosper.'

(Mark 12:29-31) 'Sh'ma Yisra'el, ADONAI Eloheinu, ADONAI echad (Hear, O Isra'el, the LORD our God, the LORD is one), and you are to love ADONAI your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your understanding and with all your strength.' 'You are to love your neighbor as yourself.' (Jews from Israel and from all over the world say this daily and on the Sabbath as part as their prayers and blessings, even non-Jews too).

You will also find this in Deuteronomy 6:5-9

(Numbers 6:24-26) 'May ADONAI bless you and keep you.
May ADONAI make his face shine on you and show you his favor.
May ADONAI lift up his face toward you and give you peace.'

Note: ADONAI, which is a term for God found frequently in the Bible and which means "my Lord". I also use the complete Jewish Bible from Genesis to Revelations, which also has the Hebrew language.

memorizing scripture is very much an individual thing.. according to what you consider you need encouragement and strength in.

you have to evaluate your weaknesses then find scriptures that give strength for those areas.

I think that you should memorize the Bill of Rights rather than verses from that crap. Knowing the Bill of Rights will help you or others one of these days, knowing verses from a book of fiction will not.

The best one ever in my opinion:
"Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."
And I'm constantly amazed at how many people seem to think that means "Do unto others what they have done to you or do unto others what you know they will do unto you."

I like 2 Kings 2:23-24. It shows just what kind of god you are following.

Why not concentrate on the really bad ones. There are plenty.
That would give you a broader view and maybe even affect your thinking.
