A follower of Jesus.
Jesus said you should sell all you own a buy a sword.
But, those who live by the sword die by the sword.
Jesus said you should leave your home and family and go out with nothing in your pockets and go door and door and spread the word. If rejected shake the dust off your feet and keep going.
Jesus said if the soldiers ask you to carry their packs 5 miles, carry them 10 miles.
Jesus said if asked for your coat, give your cloak as well.
Jesus said to keep from being fornicators ALL men (and, I suppose, WOMEN) should Marry.
Jesus said only through me can you reach the father, hence if you want to talk with God you need to go through Jesus.
Jesus healed the sick, returned the dead to life, turned water into wine and walked on water. He said WE CAN ALL do those things.
In the last 50 years we have learned how to administer CPR, which is restoring life to some with a touch of the hands. Jesus was doing that, probably will a better technique and less effort, 2,000 years ago.
Jesus said if struck on your right cheek, offer the left.
Jesus said you must put God above your mother, father, son and daughter (he didn't say anything about spouse).
Jesus tended to lepers without fear.
Now, you have a little understanding about what Jesus was about and what he expected of everyone.

There really is no such thing as a true christian other than Jesus. A true christian would befriend everyone. A true christian would build others up and not worry about building themselves up. A true christian would be obedient to authority and to God. A true christian would be there for anyone even if they don't know the person too well. A true christian humbles them self instead of trying to be the center of attention. A true christian "stands in the back" and tries not taking the attention away from other people
Those are some that i thought of that I try to see in my friends. hope it gives you some insight

Lol I just had a service on this topic, too...according to him, a true Christian knows God and has faith in the bible. A true Christian puts God first and self second. A true Christian is willing to submit to the bible and life is shaped by the bible. Their work is God's call and have unconditional love for their family. True Christians have commitment to the virtues of Christianity.
Others know ABOUT God and put themselves first and God second. These fair Christians are only willing to compromise with religion. They can only say that they RESPECT the bible and not sumbit themselves. They are shaped by other Christians and are more of followers than leaders. They work for the blessings of God and look at it as a gift from him. They have conditional love for their family.
Non-Christians know not God and live for themselves only. They own a bible and that is the most they relate to it. These look at marriage and family as a legal convenience.
Hopes this helps you decide where you are.

One who believes in Jesus Christ as the son of God and the only way to Heaven, through his sacrifice, and also that the Bible is the Word of God. Keep in mind that even "true" Christians sin like everyone else (including the sins of judging others and partaking in hypocrisies); it is simply that they have accepted a gift that others have rejected.
The Bible says "by their fruits you shall know them", and it is true that many may call themselves Christians, but how they act often reveals otherwise. Politicians often use Christianity as a method of gaining acceptance (for example, John Kerry says he is Catholic but is pro-choice, and George W. Bush says he is Christian but murders people for oil).

Hi Hazydaze,
In my opinion, a True Christian is one who reads, studies, and follows the New Testament Scriptures as they are written and is cautious about his/her actions. When he/she sins he/she prays for our Father's Forgivness. Becoming a Christian takes more than just a simple belief in Christ.
Study these scriptures and see what you think. To become a Christian:
1. HEAR - Romans 10:14 How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?
2. BELIEVE - In Mark 16:16, Jesus said “He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.”
3. REPENT - Luke 13:3 I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish.
4. CONFESS CHRIST - 1 Timothy 6:12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.
5. BE BAPTIZED - Romans 6:3-4 do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
6. CONTINUE TO BE FAITHFUL - Jesus said in Matthew 7:21 "Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.”
Send me a note if you have questions. I am anxious to hear from you. Have a Great day.

A true Christian follows Christ. That sounds simplistic, but really, there are many professed Christians that claim to do so and yet do not. Many say to themselves "what would Jesus do' and then off they go and do the opposite.
Titus 1:16 says "they publicly claim they know God but they disown him by their works." This is true of counterfeit christians.
Time and again, Jesus deferred to his father's word. Thus in prayer to his heavenly father at John 17:17, Jesus prayed on behalf of his followers: "Santify them by means of the truth. Your word is truth." A true Christian accepts all of the teachings of Christ who himself taught, not of his own originality, but spoke as he learned from his heavenly father, the true God.
Many professed christians claim to do this, but when they come upon teachings that make them uncomfortable or not popular with today's culture, they reject God's word in favor of man's opinion and philosophy.
To be a true Christian means to accept all of the teachings of Christ and God as outlined in God's word the Bible. A true Christian does not try to circumvent those laws of God that are "inconvenient."
One illustration: Jesus Christ is the Prince of Peace. He was peaceful and peaceable. A disciple of the Prince of Peace, therefore, is one who is peaceable; one who pursues and seeks peace. Is it reasonable to believe that a Christian pursuing and seeking peace will foment or participate in carnal warfare? Now that is a fair question. Passions run high and there is love of country. But I ask, what did the Prince of Peace do in his own country where his people were under the hated yoke of the Roman Empire? He loved his country - his homeland, did he not? But did he foment war? Did he take up arms by the side of the Jewish Sicarii - the dagger men? Did he become one of the party followers of Herod? Did his apostles? Did his disciples? Scriptures tell clearly the answer to these questions.
How then can a true disciple participate in any kind of warfare? That is just one example. There are many.
I do not say these things to be unkind. The apostle Paul was zealous for the teachings of Christ and God. Twenty-first century Christians should be too. Zealous for the truth. Passionate in their love for God. Ready to defend. Teachers of the word. Steadfast for the truth. This, and so much more,is what it means to be a true Christian.
Remember please the illustration of Christ at Matthew 13:24-43. Jesus warned that the adversary would plant counterfeit christians right along side the true ones. Hard to tell them apart. But you can.

that is severe lack of self belief. they like so badly to "be actual" that they are moved to reason conflicts, which they then set out "to win" in any respect fees. whilst they might't win a conflict with advantageous conversations, they hotel to attempting to belittle or insult others in an attempt to shrink their opponent and make themselves sense like the victor. in all fairness I even have considered the top same habit in the Pagan community besides....that is not any longer purely a christian difficulty, it fairly is a human difficulty.

A True Christian is a popular Christian. When someone becomes unpopular they were never a True Christian.
Prohibitionists weren't True Christians, crusaders weren't True Christians, inquisitors weren't True Christians, we have always been at war with Eastasia, we have always been allied with Eurasia.
