I'm waiting for someone to call me so we can me up for dinner just to catch up on old times. Well the plan was to call at 7 pm and its now a bit past 7:30... when is it ok to assume that they are not going to call and go on about your business?

Call them! Or leave them an email or something... if it's for dinner tonight I wouldn't wait an hour, 7:30 is already pretty late... if it's to arrange for dinner another day, then I'd try to make myself available a bit longer, unless I indeed had something else important to go to. It's quite rude for other people to be so late, I should worry more about how important it is for you than about the etiquette issue. *They* are the rude people for not coming through on their appointment, you were there on time. If you want to wait longer by all means do but you shouldn't feel like you have to.

I would suggest that you call the person in the event that something has actually prevented them from calling you and depending on the response received you will be in a better position to know your next move, but certainly do not wait longer than one hour before doing something.

I say after 30 minutes, call them. If you don't get an answer, wait 15 more minutes and then call again. If you STILL don't get an answer, then either something has happened to them or you've been stood up.

try calling them and of you get no answer it is safe to assume that they wont be calling. we used to incorporate the 15 minute rule for first dates if the guy was any later than 15 minutes without calling i would leave and not give him a second chance.

7.30. Especially if you are supposed to meet for dinner tonight!
How inconsiderate of that person to leave you hanging around when they know you will be waiting to eat!
Go ahead and order yourself a pizza honey!

When your finally so mad that you will probably mess up any friendship you may still have if you do stay & they do end up showing up! It's better to leave, than to be in a horrible mood when they get there!
