I use ( on the advice of dr.) Dove liqiud body wash. Eucerin lotion (especially in winter) If my kids do have an out break, they have prescription Elidel that works great. With this routine my kids can be eczema free most of the time

My son has had it since he was a newborn (he's 9 now), and this is what helps him
If the area is getting red, I put on over-the-counter cortisone cream. I try to avoid having to use cortisone, though, since it can bleach the skin, and cannot be used on the face.
If there arerough spots that could get worse if untreated, I use Eucerin cream - it's moisturizing and non-irritating, and helps soothe and heal the scaly areas. Use liberally!
He bathes with J&J moisturizing bath rather than soap.
This is all he needs to keep his eczema under control.
Another thing that helps is rinsing off after swimming in a chlorinated pool - the chlorine makes he eczema worse. And he does a lot of swimming in the summertime!

i had very bad eczema when i was younger. i've since grown out of it. i now only have slightly dry skin. i've used *a lot* of different products to treat it. out of all of them, the best by far, hands down, are from aveeno. they use colloidal oatmeal in their products which is very good for this type of skin condition. to this day, i still use their lotions. some tips... 1.) make sure you drink lots of water to keep your body & skin well-hydrated. 2.) don't bathe in hot water for too long. it drys your skin quickly & irritates the eczema. 3.) as soon as you get out of the shower/bath (within 2 mins or less preferrably - no joke) apply lotion to your *entire* body, starting w/ the affected areas, first. this will help to lock-in your skins moisture. good luck!

I like Gentle Naturals Baby Eczema cream. I first tried it on my sons - I usually got prescriptions for mine, and found it worked better than those.

With some success I have used " Hydrophilic Ointment ". It is a ointment / cosmetic base. It is available by prescription only. I had a dermatologist prescribe it is desperation and it works pretty good.

I found a good site called exederm.com they've got a lot of good advice. They reckon many big brands could be unnecessary and irritating.

Pretty simple idea, good for kids ultra hypoalergenic products - worth a look

I swear by shea butter, but not the kind that comes in lotion form. I buy a block of natural shea butter off the internet. You have to warm it with mineral oil and put it in your own containers, but I SWEAR by it. It works wonders.
