I never tip the person whom cuts my hair. Its never the same person anyways. They can never cut my hair right. *i have curly hair*. I go home and its crooked. I haven't had my hair cut, nor trimmed in at least 8 months because of this.

anyways, is there anything wrong with not tipping? If i found one that i actually like, and went to on a regular basis, then i'd reconsider, but if its just someone who does a crappy job, that can't cut my hair straight....do it?

If they don't do a good job, you shouldn't tip. My regular started doing a funky job and the wait time was too long. It stopped tipping and then just stop going to him altogether.

When you first realize that your not getting the hair cut you want, stop them as soon as you can. Ask them politely to stop right away. Hopefully the supervisor is around or someone else that can show them how to cut your hair. Or else the new person can take over and cut your hair the way you asked.. Then I would tip the first hair dresser 1/4 of the amount of money I had set aside for tipping and the other 3/4 goes to the hairdresser that corrected the problem. Yes always tip your hairdresser. Not only do they cut your hair but sometimes they'll listen to your problems. Think of how nice you feel and look when you leave the salon,

i imagine tipping cabbies, waiters, hairdressers in uk is recurring and some thing we merely pass alongside with the pass with. If i'm getting strong service in a eating position I tip 10%. I were given weekly to the hairdresser and tip the stylist £a million yet what makes me mad is somethings there are 2 others, a million washing, the different in part blowing dry and do as all the different customers look to do, it extremely is tip all of them. merely clarifing a level you're making that pilots do not get tipped. regrettably at the same time as in US and about to pass on a helicopter vacation there turned right into a note declaring "it really is envisioned you'll provide the pilot a gratuity". imagine we ought to consistently thank our fortunate stars we do not stay in the U. S. the position tipping has were given completely out of hand.

You need to call around to different salons before going to just anyone when you have curly hair. I have VERY curly hair and I just go to Hair Masters. They do a great job on mine. Also in a lot of salons the hairdressers need to pay "Booth rent", so they do depend on tips. If a haircut costs $15 (Like at Hair Masters) I generally give a $3 tip.

Part of getting a good haircut is getting to know a stylist. If you go to a different one every time they won't get to know your hair or how you like it then you'll always be unhappy.

Tipping is great when you're happy with the job you got - if you feel they worked hard to give you what you want. Communication is big part of getting the cut you want.

I tip if they do a good job and have for a bad one to not as much as a good one

If I find some one (which is so hard to do) that does a good job I stick with them and always tip for trim, cut, etc.

If you realize while at the salon that they did a crap job, then maybe you are justified in not tipping. But if you have a general policy of not tipping your hair dresser, that is not right. You should be embarrassed.

if you aren't satisfied with the service you don't tip....simple.
but you really should look into finding someone who knows how to handle your hair. i know my daughter has very curly hair and finally found a hairdresser that does a marvelous job, she has to travel outside her community to go to this particular salon but says it is well worth the travel time. and..........her hair looks great now that she has someone who can handle it!
good luck!

I don't tip them. Simply because when I pay, I know that they're the people actually getting the money, and the business only gets a cut of it. At least that's how it is at the tiny small-town salon I go to.

Contrary to what people say there is NOTHING wrong with not tipping.

I think the US is the only one that seems to think tips are required and it has to be a minimum of 20% nowadays.
