The Bible is a love letter from God. It is full of encouraging words, answers tough questions, gets to know more about God and how one can be saved.

The bibel is a ridiculous piece of crap propaganda. I've read it, and I can tell you that it's nothing to crow about.

I never condemn anyone for the way they believe or try to discourage what they believe, but since you asked...

Even if the bible was a "love letter from God" so many people have had their paws in it, we wouldn't recognize the real thing. It has been re-written, translated, interpreted, so often, we have no clue what it really said. For instance, take the number 666. This is suppose to be the sign of the beast, but let's really look at what it says. it says 600, 3 score and 6. Because 3 score is suppose to be 60 (3 x 20) people interpret it to be 666. But, 3 score wasn't a word used when the bible was written, so it probably meant 3 score, or 3 lines. So the sign of the beast wouldn't be 666, it would be 600lll6.

This is just one example, if it was even in the original bible. We have no idea. It was probably put their long after the bible was written to control the masses through fear.

As for encouraging words... do you find it encouraging to know we can sell our daughters into slavery (Exodus 21:7), we can kill a man for trimming the hair at his temples (Lev. 19:27), a person can be put to death for working on the Sabbath (Exodus 35:2) or we can own slaves as long as they are not from our own country, but from neighboring ones? (Lev. 25:44)

One can be saved by believing in God and treating others as you would want to be treated yourself.

Like every story it gets blown out of proportion when told time and time again. We have no way of knowing if half of the crap in it was "what god said" Get over it its boring, and full of babble.

I was raised going to a Catholic school and College, I had it shoved down my throat for 25 years, I'm not about to read it now...... Hell In school , I had to copy it word for word......... So no I dont read it. If you think its so wonderful read away. Just because your a Bible thumper doesn't mean everyone eles around you wants it pushed on them.....

ITS far from a love letter. What questions does it answer? The only question you need answered is am I too Pushy, IM not god but I can answser it for u... YES

It's a great love letter. I am especially enamoured with the part that tells us to kill unruly children.

I think more people read it than you may believe. I've read multiple versions of the Bible, and still read parts of it. I read it to understand it. At one point I was a Christian, and I read the different versions to get a better understanding of Judeo-Christian thought.

I wonder how many versions you've read. I wonder if you've ever looked to see what some of the words you read in it really mean. I wonder if you know why the KJV doesn't use the word homosexual ANYWHERE, but that it exists in other Bibles. I wonder if you use any critical thinking when reading your "love letter" from God. I wonder if you know anything of how the Bible came about; do you think it's a single book? Do you think that perhaps people, rather than God alone had something to do with it?

Other people don't believe the Bible is a 'love letter from God'. They don't see its relevance in modern life. They see it as a 2000 year old book written by the hand of man and are sceptical of it's origins, and of the intentions of those who wrote it.

Some people see the misery that organised religion brings to humanity - exclusion, condemnation, degradation, suffering, wars - and they don't want to affiliate themselves with any organised religion. Some people don't understand why they should believe in the Bible and not the Koran, say, or the Torah. Some people find the idea of believing in a spirit in the sky just plain crazy. Just a few of the many answers to your question.

For some people, they may not believe in God. Or they may have issues. For me, just knowing that God and Christ exists is enough for me. I went to church growing up. I know what will happen. I don't do really bad things to keep me from going to heaven. But I just don't read the bible. I have had my issues with God. No they aren't quite resolved yet. But I have to sometimes wonder, If someone from our time, wrote on brass plates and left it somewhere, and someone found it 1000 years from now saying that Christ walked the earth again, when we all know he didn't, would the people of the future believe it!?

Because the majority of the world is not Christian.

Because it's long and boring.

Because faith isn't reading the Bible, or any other religious book. It's having faith.

Because it has some nasty parts that are outdated and downright hypocritical (thou shalt kill or thou shalt not kill, that is the question that remains ambiguous)

Because people could be doing better things, like helping other people.

Not to say that reading the Bible is bad. Even I, a nonchristian, have read several parts of the Bible from a purely theological point of view.

i dont know if the bible is exactly a love letter from god. i mean when god talked to moses he said some pretty messed up things. i mean he said if you curse your father you should be put to death, now this might just be me but that doesnt sound like love to me, not even tough love. but i think what you want to know is why dont people believe what you believe, and the answer is they dont have to.

Because it is easier to get the advise from a friend or the TV or the radio. Of course it is not always right but who is looking for right they just want the easy way to straighten out there messes. Besides what could a book the is over 1000 years old tell you about now. These are some of the things my adult children tell me so there you go.... But I love to read the Bible and it is loaded with great advise and peaceful thoughts

because its long, boring, full of loopholes, and things that scare me AWAY from christianity. there is a lot of stuff that went on in the old testament that is just freaky, and none of it was altered by the new testament. i choose not to believe in a religion that tells me that it is the only right way and that only by accepting jesus and god into my heart can i be "saved". ive got a good job, great friends, family who loves me, and a wonderful fiance. id say im pretty saved whether or not i believe in god.

Well if you have to read the Bible constantly for direction on how to lead a good life, then perhaps you missed the point...
Further, the true compass that points us to the path of rightenous is within, The bible can only hope to pull at this compass at times, but it is not the compass itself. In addition it is not the only method of righting the ship (sort of speak).
