You know, like Marie does on Everybody Loves Raymond. It usually pisses Debra off, because Debra thinks she (Marie) is taking a shot at her (Debra's) cooking ability---which she is.

But would any of the rest of you get irritated at this?

If I had a mother-in-law like Marie, I would be very happy to see her. I'd put a pot of coffee on, enjoy her cooking and ask for advice.

if someone was bringing me yummy already home cooked food i would be overjoyed! i wouldn't care if it was my mother in law or not. now if it sucked....that's a wholllle different story. lol but for everybody loves raymond, i think the root of that problem is the nosey mother-in-law coming over all the time, not the food she is bringing.

If the food was good, why not? Free food and no work on my part. I don't think I would ever be in competition about who cooks better. I rather just eat.

These days, unfortunately, everybody assumes they're supposed to bring something. So I'd be irritated, but I wouldn't assume it was meant to offend.
