Well, I can't say I'm really representative of the Christian population in general, but on Yahoo Answers, there are certainly a lot of loaded biased questions (such as this one) and disrespect flying around, so I'm not sure it's fair to say that christians are "coming on here and then whining".
I have no problem discussing my beliefs in Yahoo answers or anywhere else with atheists when everyone is accepting of other people's ideas and open minded and not attempting to just be obnoxious, but I think that at the certain point of condescending patronization and outright rudeness that you often find in Christian-atheist debates, it's not whining to state that you don't think your beliefs are being respected. Any beliefs, including atheism.

I have close relatives who are Christians and who DON'T have a victim complex. I'm fine with their religious beliefs as long as they respect my right to have my own.
I have a big problem with Christians who whine about being persecuted. HELLO? The default assumption--at least in America--is that everyone is Christian. Banks and schools, and most companies, close on Christmas. A Christian can wear a cross without fear of getting beaten up. It's unlikely that a Christian would be fired from his or her job for religious reasons.
Oh, I could go on, but I'll stop here.
If you REALLY want to see something interesting, try not being Christian and see how people react to you.

I don't think it's a complex. I think it's a natural reaction to receiving the constant maligning that occurs in forums like these by some of the extremists who gain attention they would not normally recieve anywhere else. Christians are one of the very few groups in which is is acceptable to persecute or harass. I guarantee if it was any other group there would be public outrage and in most cases authorities would intervene. In my country (Canada) despite the so called freedom of speech rights much like America we have now got legislation which prohibits promoting hate towards an identifiable group.

Because you are almost in heart attack for a cartoon or for a sentence of the Pope very entitled to speak and you have a very different morality when in Piccadilly your colleagues of faith menace us with an Holocaust and deliver another September eleven, cause the language and the events in your world are awful and after more than 100 Muslims in jail for conspired to commit terrorist attacks you still complaint to be stressed by the helicopters while people is stranded in the airport cause some animals wanted to kill 5000 people, cause you are draining the NHS and council houses in an amazing and unacceptable percentage while at the same time after 15 years being in the country many of you even don´t speak English...and MANY MANY OTHER REASONS...UNACCEPTABLE...

I'm not a victim - I'm redeemed
I don't have a complex - I have a saviour
I don't whine - I shout with the joy of the Lord
I've never accused you or anyone about respecting my religion - but I do grieve for the salvation of the lost
hope that clarifies things for you
Blessings in Christ Jesus!!

Why are you whining now. You and other non-believers come and whine about how Christan's are not smart, where in fact most scholars are Christan. Logic, is a loaded word you can twist it anyway you want. Just like people twist the words of the bible.

It seems to be a regular fantasy among the more conservative branches. I suspect that quite a few hope on some level to be persecuted for their beliefs...and when they aren't they try to inflate any percieved slight into said "persecutiuon". Followed immediately by pious quotes about how "the righteous" would be hated...and concluding that since they are being "hated" they are by definition "true Christians".
Evidently it never occurs to them that they might be getting flack from others because they're just being self-righteous jerks. A convienent escape clause to avoid having to consider the possibility of being wrong...

I am catholic and have that Catholic Guilt thing going on all the time. But who knows... it seems everyone has a victim complex of some sort or another, regardelss if it happened last week or last millinium. People always feel they are owed something just because they are still breathing. What happened to my ancestors 150 years ago does not affect me today, so any perceived victomology by these people is all in their heads.

As a Christian Sasquatch - What the heck are you asking?
Who whines about being a Christian? What could be better?
You do not Believe?!? Not my problem, though I would rather that you did believe. You could be saved!
Study this possibility more before you choose against it.

Julia,
I really do not know. Why are you in a religious site if you are not religious... or are you? I really do not appreciate any sort of hurtful talk about any group of people no matter what their beliefs. I am a Christian but I do not appreciate the hateful talk about the followers of Islam, or the Jewish, or Buddists, or the followers of any other religion no matter what. Have a great evening.
Thanks,
Eds
