I was watching "Glenn Beck" a couple of weeks ago, he stated that child molesters have a special place waiting for them. I began to think on it and realize that ALL sin is equal in religion. In MOST religions this is a fact. It doesn't matter if you rape a child or a old person, the sin is the SAME. You can lie to your parents or your church or city judge, the sin is the same. If you kill or steal from someone the sin has the same weight in religion. By the same token, if you do any of these sins including (adultery, fornication even smoking) are forgiven the same way(Christian faith). Atheists(non believers) please refrain from answering.

Of course not. Use your head. Murder is not the same as saying your dog ate your homework.

There is no true sin. Just a basic knowledge of what is right and wrong. No one should ever be told that they will go to hell if they swear or tell a lie. (There is no hell by the way, that was created by the early christians to get the pegans to convert from the old religion.) Everyone will go back to the same place when we die and are then able to return for another life. But be warned that whatever you do in this life has an affect on your next life. e.i. If you kill someone in this life the chances are good that you will die in the next life a victim and so on. Or in the case of a child molester chances are he will have a very unhappy childhood when he comes back or he will abused in other ways sexually. It goes along with the three fold law and the whole what goes around comes around. So unless you want an unhappy next life just follow what your heart tells you is the right thing to do. And do be afraid that if you do something small (little lie, a cocktail, or telling off your parents) that you will burn forever!

~Blessed Be~

Like many Christians you have sin and its symptoms and results mixed up. More often than not sins are perversions of something that is right.

The symptoms and results are broken into two areas in Scripture; Wicked and Unrighteous. Wicked is overt and unrighteous is the thinking.

Even Jesus noted that one who offends a little child would be better off to have been cast in the deepest sea. While this applies to Christians; keep in mind that God judges nations for their treatment of children, widows and the elderly.

Now it is also written that the soul that sinneth it shall die. Certainly all manifest evil stems from sin but Scripture has never counted that all sinfull actions that result from sin are the same.

To keep it short, adultery is a violation of the commandment. In the camp it was a crime punishable by death. It was the manifestation of sin. Smoking is sinfull and carries its own rewards. You smoke because you are a sinner. It you give up smoking you have not given up sin, just one of the symptoms.

The bottom line is that all sin is in reality unbelief and that is why it is equal. The resulting wickedness we can see in the world and that is not equal by any means.

If a person really repents and is truly sorry for his sins then they are forgiven regardless of the sin.Now as we live after repentance how we live will be judged and some will be judged more harshly then others. There will be many stations in Heaven or the new world and some will be higher in rank then others. In other words someone with power here and now gets saved but lives a life not as good ,even though both are saved, say as a very poor man who has very little and is unnoticeable now will hold a higher station if his walk here if judged better. Those who have sinned and not repented and excepted God then they will die in the second death which is after judgment regardless what their sin was.Now Hell is a holding place and a place of torment,I believe there are many chambers,or holding cells in Hell, the worst will have harsher interments

No, not all sin is equal in the sight of God.
As the Bible states "eye for an eye and tooth for a tooth".
God is perfectly just in judging sin. A murder or rape will not be treated the same as someone who tells a small "harmless" white lie.

All sins lead to eternal death, but that death experienced by those who suffer under it will be different for each individual depending upon how they have lived their lives.

God is absolutely perfect in His justice.

yes, sin to God is sin. there is no greater or less sin, but however, each sin is different and therefore have different consequences. for example, if you lie to your friend, the will eventually find out and be mad at you. another example will be if you murder someone, the consequence would probably be that you will go to jail. Sin + God = same
sin + consequences = different

hope this helps. G bless

Well, not all sins are equal. According to the bible itself there are two kinds of sin: deadly and non-deadly. In fact, the deadly sin is not even recommended that it be prayed for...that's how terrible it is!

"If anyone sees his brother commit a sin that does NOT lead to death, he should pray and God will give him life. I refer to those whose sin does NOT lead to death. There IS a sin that leads to death. I am not saying that he should pray about that. 17All wrongdoing is sin, and there is sin that does not lead to death". (1 JN 5:16-17)

And Protestants have been putting us Catholics down for years -- insisting there is no such thing as mortal sin and that the idea is an "invention of man". Well, folks, here is your biblical proof....the Latin word for deadly is.........mortal!!!!!

Actully all sin's aren't equal. A couple things apply to to make it either a smaller or bigger sin. (The officala term is vinal and mortal) IF you know your sining while your sining it's worse. If you kill it's harsher than you lie. Depending on the lie. If you lie and someone ends up dead , its a mortal sin if you lie (not that ANY lies are justifed) about a causal date then its a smaller sin. For more info talk to a Priest.

All sin is equal in God's eyes, except for the sin of disbelief. There's different degrees of sin, obviously, but in the end, it counts just the same, sin is sin.

I think all sin is dishonoring God, however, I think there is a difference in cold booded murder and cheating on a school exam. The thing is all sin is forgivable be true and repent and God will forgive you. This is an intresting question because it reminds me of "Dantes Inferno" where hell had different levels according to the severity of sin

No. The Church has long recognised cardinal ("deadly") sins and venial sins. The idea that all sins are of equal gravity is a very recent innovation, and a highly illogical one.

Does God *really* hate stealing office-stationary as much as He hates rape and murder? I think not.
