what size hook should i use for trout?

It depends on:
a) how big the trout are you're fishing for.
b) the type of bait you're using.

When using corn, power bait or wax worms, size 12
when using redworms or meal worms, size 10
minnows = size 8
nightwalkers = size 6

You see, the size of the hook is dependant upon the size of the bait.

My only choice of hooks are Gamakatsu (size # 8), however when usin' Salmon eggs (Pautzke's "Ball's of Fire") I'll go with single gold egg hook's by Eagle Claw...

use a 6-8 and use some gulp on it adds to the over all perination use a wacky rig and it will work for you
