Great question! From the response you've received you can see why we have wars because we have an attitude that only one person can be right. It funny how so many religions say they are right and EVERY body else is wrong.

Coming from a household where Islam, Christianity, and Buddhism is practiced I can only suggest that you embrace the elements of Buddhism that ring true to you or you feel will make your life better. This is your religious journey and you should do whats right for you.

Don't worry about "serving two God's" in the terms of God vs. Buddha, are you putting your job, money, friends, etc. before God? Earthly things can certainly be "Gods".

Plus you made it pretty clear in your question that you do not plan to worship Buddha. You are interested in the philosophy.

Good Luck and keep studying!

The primary goal of Buddha when he found Buddhism is to save people from earthly suffering. You may trust in your God but live according to the notion of karma. Since the teaching of Buddha will help you from committing sin and redeem your sin, if you master it, your life will be better; and then you may enter the kingdom of heaven of your God. Buddhism will help you improve your conscience without asking to convert into it. Do not worry about it. Buddha's mercy is vast; he only cares about how you live your life as a good person.

they are confused and need to read their bible more carefully. The bible is the blueprints on how to live your life and adopting just any belief system and calling yourself a Christian is a lie because your not. Being Christians means that you believe that Jesus was the messiah and that he gave his life so that your sins could be forgiven and that you follow his teachings not Buddha. It's like a vegetarian who eats red meat because they think it's the best source of protein for them, not a vegetarian; not a true Christian.

Buddhism is a practice, not a religion neccessarily. These things can be compatable. Consider Thich Nhat Hanh as a resource.

I think it's wonderful. Most Christians don't even realize how similar the Buddhist philosophy is with the teachings of Jesus. Good for you. Don't let anyone tell you that it's impossible, because it isn't. Jesus and Buddha both taught the same thing. Remember that Jesus didn't come to start a new religion. He simply wanted people to follow his teachings.

They are investigating the Buddha teachings and it is a good thing to do. Good ideas are universal and only smart people know how to search for best information for themselves.

So, they are becoming another Anthony de Mello.
Very good in practice. Recommended. Think about it. Buddhist practices will take their understandings of Christianity in a much deeper level.

It dosen't matter what i think, because it is up to God who goes where, and does what.

But, I believe that if a man (Or Woman) claims to be Christian, and then practices a religon such as Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, they never were a Christian in the first place.

You would have to explain in just what way they were practising Buddhism as a philosophy. Some Christian attitudes coincide with those shown in other religions. Perhaps you are referring to practises that are originally Christian, but that also pertain to Buddhism.
