I cast magic missile, on you. You take 2 points of damage.

It's just pretend. Leave 'em alone.

Magic IS real. Do you even know what it is? Do you understand that when we say "magic," we are talking about the power that a person's thoughts and emotions have over the physical environment? Do you understand that it has already been scientifically proven that focused thoughts have a direct and measurable affect on physical reality? Could it be that you simply didn't know that all magic is is the focused direction of an intention?

And I have never once in my entire life played any kind of role-playing game. But I've cast a good many spells... almost all of which have worked.

You are right...in part.

People whom run around in pointy hats spouting off magical enchantments and threatening to turn you into a frog...not real...

But Many people view magic as a form of active praying. There is no difference between a Christian praying and a pagan chanting. (yes...yes... I can feel the hate mail rolling in now). The idea and psychological effects are the same.

If you are athiest and do not believe, fine... but if you are so sure that it doesn't exist, why do you feel the need to waste five points on this question? If it has no effect, than why does it bother you? Once you come to that conclusion, you will start to understand why it does exist and does work on certain levels.

Ummmm... I'm not sure where you get your information from but my answer is no.

Magic is something entirely different from D&D. D&D is actually a game that happens to be very popular because it caters to a persons imagination.

Magic happens to be a part of every day life, whether you like it or not. You wouldn't call the sun rising over the horizon magical? You wouldn't call the full moon being magical? What about the wind blowing? Nobody can see the wind, yet they can feel it and smell the scents that it brings with it. Is that not magic?

No, I haven't at least [I've seen those who have. It's scary.]

I do both of those things. Most people would never know it in person though. You may have the wrong idea of what it is though.

Essentially, anyone talking about lobbing fireballs [or some other such thing] is an idiot.

I understand the logical errors in all of it, but I'm allowed my few [Okay, damnit, several!] vices. Besides, unless you see me forcing you to join in a ritual with me, I don't see the problem.

I think people who use real magic have better things to do than pretend to use magic.

D & D players are having fun playing a game, they're typically nerds, sci fi/fantasy fans, and so on, but NOT real magic users.

Right. I'm so glad that you understand my religion so well.

Get real.

All religions use magic in one form or another; some call it prayer, some call it magick, some call it blessings and so it goes.

My religion uses magick. Magick is the art and science of effecting change in accord with one's will. Contrary to your assertions, I'm certain that it does work.

As far as spells, I use few, though I've done some for protection and such. I also use energy raising as well as prayer. These things have helped me greatly in my life, to include healings and such.

I can't tell you that I've got verifiable scientific proof, but that's not what I require to simply live my life.

You seem to be confusing fantasy game magic with the "magick" that Wiccans and others claim. The two have no relation to one another, and your effort to do so is transparently ignorant. Pick up a real book and learn something.

Some people take things too far. That being said, most people I play D+D with are atheists, though one person in my group is a christian. None of us are wiccans, and none of us believe in magic.

Yes, I still play D+D! Its no more childish than watching sports in my opinion!

Huh. Looks like someone's bad typing spell has taken its effect on *you*.

By the way, I never played D&D, ever. But you seem to know a lot about it.

Lol, I've never played a D&D game in my life.
I have cast tons of spells.. who are you to say what's real and what's not in my life? You don't know me, nor have you walked in my shoes.
