my dear sara d. - you are very young if you don't think this q makes sense. if you look at the other answers you will see it makes perfect sense. it is an old phrase meaning that young people tend to take their youth for granted and don't use it to it's full potential.as we get older we start to realize that. it isn't a dig at anyone and i'm not picking on younger people. ask your parents. they'll explain it.

Well it is because in our age we realize how all that time and beauty is wasted and thrown away. But at least yo're smarter when you're older.

I honestly don't get this question. I mean c'mon, what are old people going to do with youth? this is just one of THOSE questions that never quite make sense. The young have every right to do what they want with their youth, with out the older generations constantly reprimanding them and telling them what they are doing wrong! Gosh! you really need to give us a break sometimes.

A very good question ..this is true that young people these days don't really care that what the future holds for them I was also in their shoes once but I was lucky to have my parents and my elder sister to show me the right way and pliz parents and brothers n sisters out there pliz help the young ones make the right decision

Youth is a state of mind not so much a number. we all made mistakes when we were younger. sometimes the 18 year old you are always stays with you if you let it. instead of trying to be an older person. cause society dictates that

I agree, we all get a shot at how we spend our lives and sometimes the mistakes we make in our youth follow us for the rest of our lives.
