A fat-tire single speed in bright red about two months before starting school. I was five years old. It didn't come with training wheels; I had one wipeout on the back lawn before getting the hang of cornering and then I was off and running.
First true road bike at age 16, bought with proceeds from my first job. It was a dark blue (maybe purple?) Bianchi racing bike, 18 speed with Campagnolo gearing.
I bought my first true mountain bike at age 20, after having my SECOND Bianchi smashed up from poor road conditions. It was a black Haro Vector (no suspension), 27 speed using Shimano 105s derailleurs.
I now own the old Haro Vector, a 6-month-old Gary Fisher (full suspension) KingFisher2 MTB, a Felt 55 road bike (aluminum/carbon composite frame), and a Felt S22 triathlon bike.
... and then there's my wife's bikes ... ;)

My first real bike (meaning rubber tires, not plastic) was at five or maybe four. My dad got me on a bike early. It was a Kitty Kat 5. Any one have one of those? That was 1976. Yeeehaaaa.

I was 10 when I got my own bike. Before that I tried riding my brother's bike. Now I'm trying to re-learn how to ride a BMX bike for this summer. My fat _____ can't even keep up with my friends for a short ride lol

Six years old. It was a used bike, but I was thrilled, nevertheless. My Mom held on to the back of the seat, while I pedaled, then she let go. I fell over shortly after, but got back on for another go.
