I have decided to use a 5 MP setting as apposed to a 7 MP setting on my camera. However, the next thing to decide is do I save space by using "Fine" or is it really worth the extra space for "Superfine". If it helps, I am using a Canon Powershot A620.

These settings control the amount of compression that your camera is doing when it converts the images to files. Fine means more compression and some lost data. For the casual everyday shooter the Fine setting should be adequate. If you plan on enlarging the photo to 8X10 or larger, consider the Superfine setting.

On the other hand, memory is cheap and so is hard disk space. If it is important and you really want to retain as much image data as possible, leave it on Superfine, upgrade your memory card to a larger card, and shoot away.

The A620 is a great little camera, but why only use 5MP when you can use 7?
If I were you, I would buy a larger memory card (at least 1GB minimum, high speed) and set all photos to Large, Superfine.
Memory cards are so cheap now, so there's no need to skimp on photo quality.
If you like to crop your photos, don't skimp on the MP.

Superfine is "finer" than fine. I don't think it makes a big difference in the quality.

What kind of a strict budget are you on? Because seriously, memory cards are so cheap these days. You could buy them online for next to nothing. Or even find a sale at an electronics store. Instead of lowering the quality of your photographs, increase your memory.

It's all marketing BS. Wait until the upgraded Canon Powershot camera comes out next year with a "Superfly" setting.
