He has single-handedly caused much of the strife in the world by establishing his "religion."

Christians are indeed being persecuted but the majority of this persecution both now and in the near future will be from false apostate christians! In which the chief persecutor will be the coming Assyrian christian /anti-christ!!
Ignor the verbal complaints and ridicules of the atheists on this forum. They are trivial in comparision to the mass killings the anti-christ will be responsible in the near future. Behold the Holy Spirit of God, our Lord and Savior, where He so stated: "Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition." 2Thess.2:3 Greater days of torment and persecution are coming my dear Christian brother so be prepaired for those days by being wise like the 'five wise virgins' in the Gospels!
Satan hates Christians the most and so persecutes them the most in these last days, and thus makes it quite obvious who the one true God really! Jesus our Lord and King!! PTL

Actually Jesus died quite a while ago, he isn't saying anything anymore. Christ is not persecuted most, he is dead. He was persecuted or at least executed as a criminal.
He is the subject because the myth of Jesus is a dying myth. I suggest you read Thomas Jefferson's letters to John Adams and you might understand why it is now so vocal. Likewise Twain will do.

This century is known as 'The Martyr's Century' because more poeple have lost their lives for their Christianity since 1900 than in all the previous centuries combined. Christians are the most persecuted religious group in the world. During the twentieth century more of them died, as a result of persecutions, than in all the preceeding nineteen hundreds since the birth of Christ. Persecution meaning not only discrimination, but slavery, torture and murder. All over the world there are about 200 million followers of Christ suffering today, and it's surprising that nobody, neither the Christian community not the establishment, talks about it. The average number of Christian martyrs per year worldwide is 163,000. According to a 1998 report by the Helsinki International Federation for Human Rights 19 European countries violate religious liberty.

As a Christian, I personally have been persecuted for my faith, and I know of many others. If Christians were not persecuted, when why are so many Christian missionaries killed? Why do so many teenagers tease the Christian kids at school? Christians were even killed in the Holocaust because they weren't of the Arian race or because they helped Jews to escape (and Hitler's claim to be a Christian cannot be true when his doctrine was based on hating others). Christians are persecuted just like everyone else.
Also, faith is not the same as knowledge. No, you can't prove that God is real, but faith is believing even though you cannot see. When God works in your life, you know He's real even if you can't prove it to others.
To touch more on the actual question, from a Christian perspective, I think that the reason that people focus so much on rebutting the name of Jesus is the devil's work. He doesn't want us to believe in Jesus as our Savior, so He works hard to put doubt into the world about who Jesus is. It's quite possible that the devil would bother less with rebutting other religions because he's already got them doubting God. The devil works harder to pull Christians away from God. That would be my Christian perspective, and it is like that which I have seen at a Christian college.

Everybody hates everybody. Jesus was not unique for being hated. Man, what the **** do you want from non-Christians? We make like 20% of the population; we can't do anything. Why don't you blame the Christian politicians or the Christians who persecute Christians? Your life is so damn hard. Why don't you go to Iraq or something?

I'm not quite sure what you're asking, but it isn't true that most atheists hate Jesus. It's not that we have a problem with JESUS, we just don't think He was the incarnated God. (Because we don't believe there is a God.) I personally think He was probably a good man, with some good intentions.

I say, why do atheist participate in the religion section at all? They have no religion. Then again, as the song goes, "imagine no religion". If there were no religion, we wouldn't have so much war. I rather be Christ like. Religion is becoming an atheist thing. I prefer spirituality.
God bless us all...

Proving that Jesus was the son of god using the bible is like saying Zeus existed because we have scripture and statues of him. You're really just talking yourself in a circle. You're basically saying "the bible is true because it says its true."
this why atheists attack Christians so much, because they lack logical reasoning trying to prove The Christian way is the only way.

Must be because this is such a controversial subject. But, who cares what others say. Believe in what you believe in and let the rest go.
