like is it possible to even elope in NYC or do u just have to get a marriage liscense and go to the courthouse? or how does it work if u secretly want to get married

In Manhattan (and the other boroughs) you have to get a marriage license at City Hall. Nobody will know unless they look it up in the records. My husband and I eloped to City Hall last year. It was fun! I guess you can also go to a church or temple and get married there without telling anyone. You do need to get a marriage registration at City hall first and you have to be at least 18 (I think). Good luck!

The closest place to elope to from the NYC area is maryland. But if i were going that far, i'd just go to vegas.

harlem, brooklyn, if you keep going south, newark, candmen, elizabeth new jersey...
that's what comes to mind for now, if i come up with cooler places to elope i'll check back in...
