i think Willian Hayt is the best book for basic electrical engineering

It's impossible to pick out one book. There are too many fields. There are passive circuits, bipolar transistors, field effect transistors, integrated circuits, digital circuits, analog, radio frequency, microwaves, digital signal processors, memories, etc etc etc....
