its impossable to levitate a card through static electricity (unless your einstein) but one thing you can do is called the hummer card,ufo card, or hummingbird card (search for it on www.penguinmagic.com ) which is some invisable thread some magicians wax and thats just about it.. put one end of thread behind ear and one end on the card. use the crevise on your pointer finger and thumb to direct the card and have fun amazing people.

A playing card has such a small capacitance (for charge), that you would need probably 1 million volts on the card to get a decent levitation. Air can't support that kind of voltage before arcing (it arcs at several 10 kilovolts -- far cry from 1 million).

Even if you could somehow get enough charge on the card to get some levitation going, like the guy before says, trying to balance it will be next to impossible.

I purchased a levitating card trick from a magic shop in Vegas (at the Stratosphere). It works great and it is a family "crowd pleaser" when I bring it out. Try some online magic shops. These pre-made card tricks aren't that expensive.

If you want to levitate it, forget it. Getting the dynamic balance is just about impossible.
