Christianity

Christians are the only religion ( way of life) that boasts a risen from the dead Savior.

No other religion even makes that claim

Most people put religion into a different category from everything else. Personally I think this is a mistake. I think the only reason you should accept any idea over any other idea, whether you're talking about a better drink, a better medicine, or a better religion, is which idea more closely corresponds to reality. The only thing you should concern yourself is not which religion makes you more happy, which is more interesting, or which seems to be more tolerant, egalitarian, or whatever, but rather, which one is true. And I mean true in the classical sense of correspondence with reality.

Being a Christian, of course, I think you should become a Christian. But before you do, I think you should have some reason to think Christianity is true. There are many questions to pursue in this search (e.g. What is Christianity? Did Jesus claim to be the Christ? Is there a God? Did Jesus rise from the dead? Is there such a thing as right and wrong? etc.) Rather than refer you to book that answer these specific questions, I'd like to refer you to another book that advocates a rational approach to your quest and will give you some of the critical thinking skills you'll need to pursue it.

Choose christianity. Why? well christianity has a lot of promises.
e.i. The bible says that there is life after death. What does that mean? well, it means that when the end of the world comes there will be lots of death. Not just death but there will be signs. We are close to the end. How do I know? The bible says, "There will be kingdoms that hate other kingdoms." How many countries hate the U.S.

Well, anyways life after death means that after we die, we will be Judged. After the Judging we will have eternal life.

Before you become christian, you should make a prayer. Why? Well, in this prayer you will give your life to the one and only LORD. After that, you CAN thank the lord for everything he has given you.

Christianity isn't a religion that need... well, let's put it this way. If you are a christian you can do whatever you want as long as it is God's willing.

Before you do anything think about this. GOD is a gentleman. he doesn't go into people's live by the force. He waits till you open the door for him. He doesn't Obligate you to follow him. He gives you a choise. He isn't like those other "gods." He is allways there waiting for you to call him.

Ok, if you are looking for a religion, go to www.religioustolerance.org. They have info that you can use to decide. You will know it when you feel it! I am personally a Pagan. I pretty much practice a personal form of Wicca. I believe in reincarnation, the Law of Return, and the Rede. I believe that there is a Divine force in everything, and it is made up of male/female (opposite) energies, and that parts of that energy are what we call God and Goddess, or the Gods and Goddesses such as Hera, Artemis, Isis, Zeus, Osiris, Mercury, and all of the others. If you want to know more about my faith, email me.

your best be would be to read up on it in a library or something. basing your decision on answers you get in a public forum is very risky...you may get a ton of the same answer, or a bunch of differant answers from people who think they know the facts, but are really just pulling stuff out of the air. read carefully. take notes if it helps. find what works for you. i went through this situation where i was suddenly on an epic search for a religion that made sense to me, and after at least a year of research ranging from reading books, reading on the internet, actually going to services from various religions, etc...i settled on wiccan. ive been practicing for a couple years now and find it is what works for me. i find the philosophy of "an ye harm none, do what ye will" is very helpful to me (it means basicly if it hurts anyone or anything, dont do it). i also enjoy the fact you can practice it anywhere, anytime, either by yourself or with others. it is NOT (dispite anything you may have heard) a satanic religion, and the people who do use it for that are doing it for the wrong reasons. i really hope my answer helps. good luck

i find that i shy away from the word religion. it has so many "bad" connotations. i follow jesus. not a man living today, not a denomination but i really took a hard look at the gospels and then the whole bible, and felt that it was truth. i would start reading john, then matthew. then go for luke and acts then on to some of the rest of the new testament.

i love james, and ephesians and colossians. i try to follow what's in the book, not what i hear people say. it's very different than what many people tell jesus is about. (check out blueletterbible.com. they have several free versions of the bible. i like the new living translatino. it's easy to read in modern language.)

i'd also recommend a book by brennan manning called the ragamuffin gospel. his way of writing is so down to earth and real. he is great.

but i wish you good searching in your quest. i really hope that truth finds you.
peace

I recommend that you look up the LDS religion at www.lds.org or www.mormon.org. The LDS missionaries can come visit you and explain all about our beliefs as well as giving you a copy of the Book of Mormon for you to read (if you want them to).

If I had time, I would tell you all of our 13 articles of faith (which give a basis for our beliefs) but the very first is: We believe in God, the eternal father, and in His son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost. The second is: We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly, we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God.

I would be happy to answer specific questions about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

I am of the Pentacostal persuasion. Like most common sects, we believe that Jesus is the Son of the living God and that He died on the cross for sin to be forgiven. One belief that sets us apart is that we believe in the gifts of the Holy Spirit and that they are still in effect today. There are some sects calling themselves Pentacostal that believe in handling the serpents, etc. but this is rare and not an accepted part of the Pentacostal belief system.
Religion is nothing on it's own merit. Your personal relationship with Jesus is the crucial factor. But you do need to find a church for the fellowship with like believers.

I'm a Gnostic Christian. Gnostic Christianity is about experiential knowledge that leads us to a personal relationship with God. In Gnosticism, God is within you and in order to discover that you must first know yourself, you can only know yourself through the personal experiences you live. Because of the nature of Gnosticism it is a very personal faith and as such there are few, if any, doctrines and dogmas.

Okay, My reading material is only the king James version of the Bible. And what I would suggest is a chapter a day in Matthew, Mark, Luke or John. And meditate on His word day and night and ask Jesus Christ to be your personal Savior. Spirituality in my opinion is far better than religion. And strive for a personal relationship with our awesome creator. Take care and may God bless you spiritually.

You can "look" but you will not "find" a religion. You already believe everything you're going to believe. You can't just go into a temple or a church and have someone tell you, "Hey! We believe such and such!" and then you "believe" it too.
