Only people who have been through the temple wear what we call garments. They aren't holy, they aren't magical and not everyone wears them. To us, it's an outward symbol of our commitments we made with God. We can take them off. We don't have to wear them for swimming, showering, exercising, sex. They are worn under clothing, just like regular underwear.
There are certain things that we aren't supposed to do with them, like sell them. We don't just throw them in the garbage when they are worn out, they do have to be disposed of a certain way, but we don't pray over them or anything. Certain parts are cut out of them before we throw them away.
They aren't worn to give us magical abilities, like I've heard some people say. I always tell people it's like a habit the nuns wear, or prayer scrolls that some Jewish men wear, or a collar that priests wear. They do it as an outward show of the commitment they made with God, same thing with us.

Only mormons who have been through the temple ceremonies are allowed to wear the holy undergarments.
These garments are to be covered at all-times with clothing when outside the home. I've many family members who wear them, I'm not a mormon myself.
I've been told that the garments are to be worn during intercourse, but not many people adhere to that requirement.
The garment can be removed for washing and replaced with a clean garment. Just like you would with regular under wear.

The undergarments are worn daily to be a reminder of the covenants you made with God, when you received them when you worshiped in the temple for the first time. Each time you return to the temple, you are again reminded of the special covenants you make.
You are allowed to take them off, just like any other person removes their underwear. You take them off to go swimming, to bath, to play sports, etc. They are a special reminder of your covenants, however, and they can be a help to you in remaining faithful..

I don't know that I'd call my underwear "holy".
But, like everything about the temple, the reason I wear temple garments is quite sacred to me.

Yes most people above answered correctly! LDS wear their undergarments just like a priest wears his robe. Unlike a priest being a Mormon is not our job (no one gets paid) so we wear our "special" clothes under our "normal" clothes. Does that make sense lol?

there are a lot of different reasons to wear garments, one of which is a reminder to stay clean.
you start wearing them the first time you go throught the temple.
some people who play sports, or other things like that, dont wear them, so they wont ruin them.
some people believe that you cant take them off for anything, including sex, showers, etc... but, honestly... do you think a church would say that??
oh, dont forget guys, we wear them to cover our devil horns and tail :P

You don't have to. You get it after you have been through the temple for the first time. You cut if up if it becomes discolored or torn. You can take it off for sex, bathing, swimming or exercising.

First.. Pat is a liar...
We do make Covenants in the Temple and we do wear special garments to remind us of those Covenants. We are to wear the garments at all times except when it would bring undue attention to them or when having sex, excercising, swimming, etc...
Think of the garments as our "Priesthood Garments".. what would YOUR priest do with his robes on?

That's correct.
We get our clothes issued by the church. Everything goes through the main temple in Salt Lake City.
Being a 19-year-old guy myself, as an elder of my church, I wear a white dress shirt, white undershirt, black dress pants, belt, Scooby Doo boxer shorts, black socks, and plain leather dress shoes.
I also have a mountain bike and helmet that I use when spreading the word of Jesus, that guy who came over to America, to people in foreign lands.
They're all of fairly decent quality, and the price is reasonable. I can order them over the internet once I'm proved to my local preacher that I've worked out 20 generations of my family tree.
I'm waiting to climb up 30 generations, because that's when I get my "Aryan Pride" badge.
