You're absolute right - it is racist. Gospel music is sung by black people, christian/inspirational music by white - that's what's in most people's minds anyway..

gospel is choir music, a group of people probably only an organ. christian music is any other styles that are marketed to religious people. Most commonly christian rock. But i suppose you could have christian anything, definite christian hip hop just guessing from hip hops popularity, i assume that's in the inspirational section with christian rock.

notice though not all music about god is in either section, something like 'what if god was one of us?' or "Eve of destruction"; i'm sure there's others. These are not christian bands, they just have god in one or two songs so they go in the pop section. It is devisive that 'christian' music is segregated but idk about your color thing, look for christian hip hop next to christian rock.

Gospel usually refers to southern gospel, although there is a black gospel. This is usually performed by trios, quartets and quintets and has its roots in the Blues.

Christian/inspirational is a different form as it is usually performed or sung by Christian rock groups, soloists, duets, choirs and congregations. It usually has a different rythm and has its roots in Christian rock and Christian folk.

There is also Christian hymnology, Christian contemporary, Christian soul, Christian country, Christian choruses, Christian classical and Christian Bluegrass.

It has to do with style, not race. Gospel has its roots in Blues, while Christian/Inspirational is based on contemporary rock and folk. The two are completely different, but both praise the same God. I love both.

To me, the same thing, but they really aren't. Both are also equally useless.
