Psychiatry and physiology doesn’t work for me. I’ve taken Celexa and Paxil and It just made me cold, dizzy, sweaty, it gave me Migraines, and I gained around 60 lbs rapidly. I’ve taken the B-12 shot and I’ve had some more bad side effects with that also. Has anyone that has been diagnosed with depression actually overcome it??? If so tell me how you control my depression???

Thinking happy thoughts is darn nigh impossible when I am depressed. I, too, have bad reactions to anti-depressants. One of the few things that help is (shudder, gasp) exercise. I hate to exercise. I can't stand to exercise.

Once I get past that phase and start exercising. It helps. Start out walking around the block. Then maybe do it again later in the afternoon.

Walk (If you aren't too far away) to the post office, to the bank, to the grocery store. Then if after a while you feel up to it, jog. Get those endorphins pumping. Get outdoors in the sun. Take some vitamin D : http://www.webmd.com/depression/news/20040803/vitamin-d-ease-depression

Hope some of this helps, good luck, we both need it.

Have you maybe thought of trying some natural remedies? Go to a health food store and ask them about some of the natural vitamens and minerals you might take. I have heard that St. John's Wort will help, but it take a while to get enough into your system to help. Good luck. You ask how I deal with depression. When it gets to a point I just stay home alone and have a good cry and that usually does it for me.

Although, I am not familiar with EFT, I generally concur with the words and thoughts, of the respondent, who recommended EFT. Yes, you can spiral down, or you can spiral up. In that vein, I recommend, you separate yourself from individuals in your life, that pull you down.

Low, serotonin levels, have also been implicated in depression. One measure, you may want to consider, is to ensure, you have the necessary nutrients, in you diet, necessary, to maintain the appropriate levels, of this neurotransmitter.

Essential to serotonin production, is tryptophan, and vitamin B6. Two sources of tryptophan are cheddar cheese and turkey. You may, want to consider taking a B-complex daily, and 50 mg B6, prior to going to bed. In addition to the B6, another, helpful supplement, to take with the B6, is 5-HT, i.e., 5-hydroxy-tryptophan, an intermediate between tryptophan and serotonin.

I was in and now out of it. I eat dark chocholate and go to the gym everyday. That was my description from my doctor. And I feel great. Also try thinking possitive about the negative things in life. It also shares in a part in making yourself feel better.
