technically its a sin..because you would be thinking of someone while doing it..and according to the way i was taught ..you only have sex with the one you are married all others are basically adultry..because the first time you have sex according to how i was raised..you are married in God's eyesi hope this helps you.if you want to get technical just about every thought you have is a sin..

technically it is a sin, but no one follows the whole don't masturbate rule anymore. back in the day people said you would go blind if you masturbated. i wonder who proved that wrong.

I know it's a HORRIBLE sin for Catholic Priests (or anybody) to rape young boys however.
The ones who say "yes" usually are referring to "lust". My personal opinion is that lust is REAL desire for a specific person, that you actual know and is a real person, not a "character" or a "porn star", which is NOT part of the real world.
I think the "danger" is thinking that it's "real".
