Placing creationism at the center of the debate makes it appear that, in order to be a Christian, you have to abandon your brain. The extraordinary forcefulness of the arguments put forward seem to spring from a place of insecurity and fear.

Why would Christians create such controversy trying to trash evolution when the only thing that does is make Christianity seem just as authoritarian and tyrannical as the Nazis or the Taliban?

I am sympathetic with your critique, but I actually think the silencing measures taken to keep evolution from debate or scrutiny is far more similar to fascist tactics. I am not a creationists, but I can see that the evolutionists tactics only ad fuel to the fire when claiming some questions are not allowed to be asked and some answers never questioned. The debate will not go away any sooner if debate is suppressed.

Why would any religious group think their flaky concept of the origin of life on earth be more valid than the Hindu Model, Baal, or Zuelle the Destroyer of Keyboards or Zotran the Maghificent. Science is multi-discipline and these zealots fail to even look into astrophysics. A little time at the Hubble space telescope website should make them have some questions about their superstition. Few will because not only would that be threatening, it requires rational thought, something that someone who believes in myths would be incapable of doing.

Christians don't simply promote creationism, they believe in it. There are many factors to consider when trying to compare creationism to evolutionism. Remember that while neither theories provide concrete proof of their existence as the theory to prevail, they also do not provide evidence on either side that can discount the other.

Perhaps you can clarify what you mean by abandoning one's brain. Would that be your opinion or do you really believe you're stating a fact?

I think to make a real argument between the two very plausible theories, you'll want to come armed next time by bringing more to the table other than spewing rhetoric that's already been done to death.

Good luck with that.

The Nazis, Taliban and Christians combined never killed nearly as many as the atheists Mao, Stalin and Pol Pot. Authoritarian and tyrannical. The theory of evolution that refutes creation may appear to be innocent reason, but the dream behind it is the root of all evil.

properly at first, Wicca and Islam are no longer pagan cults. Scientology is a cult. And in case you certainly look you will see drastic alterations between Scientology and Islam besides as Wicca. something outdoors of Christian values isn't a cult. exceedingly the Muslim and Wicca faiths, that have the two been around lots longer than your faith besides. it is likewise efficient to notice that i've got met Christian Pagans. the comparable way genesis does not interfere with evolution for you, Christianity has no longer prevented them from following pagan practices and existence. and that's cool, by using fact the Pagans have forgiven the Christians for sending them into obscurity and massacring what they carry sacred. If basically you need to get previous your closed-mindedness too. brushing aside that fact, I do consider you in terms of religion and motive latest factor by ability of factor. Creationism is a humorous tale, however the Christian/catholic faith is a eye-catching subject. it truly is a shame that it truly is tarnished with radicals in such strategies that degrades it truly is credibility time and time lower back.

I think what Christians are actually defending with their wild creationism is the protestant doctrine, "sola scriptura" - you only need the bible to interpret Christianity.

It puts aside the traditional theology (interpretation) of Catholicism. It relies only on what the bible says.
This is the basis of fundamentalism.

But the bible is not like that! It must be put into context. We must realize that Genesis is NOT a narrative - it is NOT a history book, but rather it is written with symbolism, where the ultimate goal is not to explain biology but to show one thing - that there is only one God, who cares about his people.

Our scientific knowledge has to match with our interpretation of the bible. Thats why, we must agree - there are two kinds of evolution: the first kind that says that God is behind it, the other says that it's due to chance alone. We must support the first, based on scientific evidence, and our interpretation of the bible.

Because that is what Christians believe. Actually Creationism is far more logical than Big Bang. Everything in this world works so perfectly together. The Trees need oxygen to live, but they also give off oxygen. They need the bees to help pollinate them, but the bees need the trees and plants to survive. Everything in this world depends on something else for it's exsistence. That is not accidental. If the Big bang really happened everything would be utter chaos- that is what happens after an explosion- utter chaos. It really is more logical to think that someone who had knowledge of science and how life works created this world and all the life on it.

Check out Dr. Dino's tapes on Creationism and you might just be surprised about how the facts discovered every day are proving the Bible true and how evolution just doesn't work...(from a scientific point of view...just one example is the number of people on the earth today proves [using a mathematical formula...not a 'christian' formula] that the earth is NO WHERE NEAR as old as evolution would have us believe)

When has a Christian worried about chasing folks away? We stand on God's word and let the chips fall as they may. We aren't in a popularity contest and certainly you have noticed this? God said He created it all and we believe God with all our being. We trust no man. We trust God. We depend on God, not man. God is our protection and provision, therefore, who should we fear?

Because we are well aware that we will not be able to help everyone, but when we so much as reach one in a group of 20,000 we're happy. Take this for example: Luke 15:4-10
What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it?
